Has anyone noticed how he is selling out more and more to Hollywood? At first it was subtle, just interview a non-sports celebrity once every few months. Now, instead of sports, he's spending an hour or so intereviewing Sylvester Stallone, Charlie Sheen, Cuba Gooding Jr., and now Rock Bands. This is getting stupid, there are billion celebrity shows on television, I turn on sports to listen to sports. Granted Rome has a tendency to go on non-sports takes, but he makes them funny and interesting. Now he's just interviewing celebrities and other crap like that and it is just annoying.
LOL A-Train! I don't know Kam, he interviews them, but over the last few months he has interviewed Cuba Gooding Jr, Sylvester Stallone, Charlie Sheen, I think Will Smith, and some other people I can't remember. I'm tired of reading celebrity interviews.
If Jim Rome wouldn't take a year to say everything he wants to say, I might listen to it. But that damn pausing he does makes me change the channel - it is so annoying.
All of the stars that you listed have been in sports themed movies. I've heard many of the same guys on ESPN's Dan Patrick show. Patrick has had Will Ferrell on his show and he's great. I don't see anything wrong with it as long as they are interesting.
But just because they're in sports themed movies doesn't mean you want to here them ON a sports show! I mean, if the Rockets beat the Lakers in a big match-up, do you want to hear Sylvester Stallone's take on it for a half-hour?
It's not the pausing that drives me up the wall, it his repetitiveness. He'll re-issue the same joke over and over again, slightly rephrasing it each time. I used to love his show. Now the only time I can leave on for more than 30 seconds is when he is interviewing somebody.
I don't know how anyone can listen to his show for an extended period of time. He runs to commercial every two minutes.
I used to kick myself for missing the radio show. Now it's like yeah whatever. The good callers don't ever call in anymore.
