Ariza won't go anywhere. I don't see that.

Eric Gordon? He won't be traded for Carmelo. Not directly, anyway. EG brings the one thing that Morey values above even his own children (three point shooting), so he probably stays. But in some separate side deal with the other GM sitting across the table with Luca Brasi, who knows?

I was thinking the Knicks were wanting young players which should leave Arizia out. I would hate to see Arizia going to Knicks he has not done anything wrong enough to be punished that way, it would be a sorry way to finish his career .

The rule is *signed rookies* can't be traded for 30-days. Rights to *unsigned rookies* can be traded at any time.

This year, all the lottery picks were signed between July 1st and July 9th. So they each have different dates. (Tatum was signed on the 1st, so he can be traded already, for instance. Fultz on July 8th) I believe the popularity of the Aug 4th date sounding like it is some special date for all rookies is because maybe that's Josh Jackson's 30-day trigger date, and many are assuming that's holding up an Irving trade.

Zhou Qi was signed on July 6th, so depending upon how they count 30-days (starting from day of signing or the day after) and that July was 31 days long, I think his date is Aug 4th or 5th.

Hartensein is unsigned. So his draft rights can be traded at any time.

Finish his career? He'll be a free agent next summer and is 32 years old.

yeah, Melo with the #1 is different than Melo with the braids...people on here are acting like he'll morph into Boogie Cousins in the locker room

    Melo is a professional

Can you start these with "I repeat" so the august 4th people feel like they're not doing their due diligence?

On another note, weee. Woj repeated what the whole world seems to know. It will happen, but it will also take a while before New York throws their hands up.

Ariza, or anyone, is a moving part in prospective multi-team deals. I am not suggesting Threeza will be going to Portland or Phoenix or Memphis or Timbucktu, just that if there were a path to a Rox-Knixie straight deal the deal would be done.

And, just in case one hasn't noticed, no Melo deal has been thru the full 100 yards, perhaps 98? But not the 99th and 100th of yards...

Morrey knows what he's doing. He's not gonna lose the opportunity to trade for Melo because he refuses to throw in [insert here]. Props to Melo for being loyal to H-town

Knicks would not do this, the one star to sign with them in years and give them his prime years and this is how they repay him? Not a chance. The knicks are still ok in the eyes of many, but they start pulling this **** and they look like the knicks organization of the past everyone knows.

Melo is done with the Knicks from his answers today.

Complete 180 from things he used to say.

I found that part of the interview comforting. Woj seems convinced that the delay is about Perry trying to change Melo's mind about leaving. That's much more heartening than if the delay is about Morey scrambling for one package after another that Perry is rejecting.

And for his part, Melo seems pretty sanguine -- in a "he gone" kind of way.

Right. It also likely means sources that have said that Melo isn't interested in meeting with Perry or Mills are likely true. The timeline for training camp makes sense if you can imagine that date approaching with the two parties not even having a sit down.

Good thing the season starts earlier which means a slightly earlier training camp. :)

Yeah, I'm mainly repeating this because of the 2017 free agency phenomenon of "insiders" tweeting out Melodrama trade dates based on CBA trigger dates. They seem to be guessing with the prospect of gaining a lot of followers (with little downside for being wrong), at the expense of getting people's hopes up.

I see no reason to be F5-ing on Aug 4th anymore than other dates.
