Bosh is pretty good, I saw him play in GT... I always though that he was a real good rebounder despite being skinny, and now it looks like he's bulked up. Still so raw though... but I remember the ESPN analysts saying that he could be a third option for rookie of their year next to Carmelo and Lebron. The difference between Bosh and EG is that Bosh, even in college, only took high percentage shots, and that shouldn't change in the NBA. High percertange shooter, I like him.

I don't think Bosh is as polished as Garnett was. I know that's strange since KG came out of highschool, but that's kind of how I see it. I also don't think it's Bosh's fault or that he might not eventually be that kind of player. I think the Raptors have the luxery of having Vince Carter there, and Bosh isn't forced to become the man as quickly as KG was.

Actually with a little more muscle put on his body I could see him being an 80% KG type player as well as a little Jermaine O'Neil thrown in. I saw Bosh play at the summer league game against the Rockets, and I was impressed then. Tonight he definitely showed a lot of composure and ability.

I think he needs a little more muscle, and more time. I haven't heard anything one way or the other about his work ethic. Have you?

If he's one of these guys that poors everything into making himself better he could be a real legitimate star in the league. It's good that he has the time to develop at a fairly relaxed pace.

It's nothing but almost overboard praise...constant praise from teammates, coaches, media around the team, and you see it in interviews. They say he's 19 going on 40, that he works very hard, never gets rattled, fears no one and nothing, bu is also completely modest and down to earth.

Tonight, at the post-game conference, Coach O'Neal said of Bosh: He's even a much better poerson than he is a player, if that's possible. Any coach would think he'd die and gone to heaven if he could have a team of Chris Boshs...I really can't say enough."

...and it should be noted that O'Neal is anything but effusive and bubbly.

But the two best things they say about him are these: That you teach him something once, and you never need to do it again, he's like a sponge with coaches...and that every time he steps on the court, he gets better...often at his own instigation. They were saying that for the practice beofre this game the coaches wanted to go over something which Bosh had handled poorly in the Sac game...and to their amazement, in the few hours they had had off between flying back from the west coast, catching a cat nap, and getting back...BOSH HAD ALREADY IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM....WORKED ON IT...AND CORRECTED IT.

They call him a coache's dream, which is another reason I see the KG comparison...

You quoted my spelling 'pours' as 'poors' but that's ok I deserve to live with the shame, since it wasn't the first time and won't be the last.

That sounds like great praise about Bosh indeed. If it holds out I think the guy could be a factor and possibly a big factor later on in his career.

I saw the game earlier today on League Pass. One of the commentators stated that Bosh looked scared playing against Brad Miller the other night vs Sacramento. "Like a deer in headlights", or something to that effect. I just checked his stats and saw he scored 6 points in 31 minutes. I haven't been following his progress. Has he been inconsistent?

With the Sac game as an exception,no...He seems to get better every time out, and had earned his way into the starting line-up ( over JYD, who has been playing fantastic), and when out and had his first bad game, although it was mostly due to early foul trouble.

According to our so called best player, Bosh just throws the ball up and gets lucky. Get with it! :)

If Cato had stayed 'home', if someone had kept a body on Bosh I believe he would have been invisible.

That said, he still had to deliver the goods, and my goodnes, he did.

I expect he won't always be invisible -- he looks like a young stud. References to EG may be OK. Let's see if he'll progress as EG hasn't.

    He has poise...

Something I wish the Rockets had more of...

Athletes don't realize how important the mangagment of emotions are. He seems like a focused player that will make the right basketball plays. I don't know if it's natural instincts or something that he picked up, but his game is effortless in the team concept. He has a complimentary disposition (which is good), but may change over time.

I haven't seen much of his game before, but he reminds me a little bit of Zach Randolph with more mobility.

    MacBeth,

EG was supposed to be our "Bosh." Not a leader. Not our "main man," but a solid starter that caused havoc and could score 25 points off of the "freebee shots" that sometimes happens when your starters get double teamed.

The one thing that I look for in a PF is not their size (bulk), but their leaping quickness. A power-forward that can out-quick your opponents that are maybe taller or bigger can be overcome by quickeness in leaping/timing. The next thing I look for is lateral quickness. There are times that players are out of position for rebounds or blocks. But they are able to recover quick enough "laterally" to close the lane down for blocks and rebounds. This also helps in getting positioning (blocking out) and rebound timing. Since you can rely on your leaping quickness, you don't have to always be the FIRST to jump. But the quickest to the ball in the air. That's why you see a lot of slower leapers jump before the ball hits the rim. They try to "cheat." To their dismay, most of the time the ball just goes over their heads. While the quicker leaper just waits, and waits and waits for the "right time" and then snatches the ball our of the air. It requires technique, timing and a natural leaping quickness. Rodman had it. Zach Randolph has it. PJ Brown used to have it. Duncan has it. And of cousse Garnette has it.

It's good to note that Bosh is only 210 pounds. Eddie Griffin was about 235 pounds. Eddie's weakness (and he had more than one) was that he was not very good laterally. He always reminded me of a GIRAFFE on rickety stilts. Very awkward. Eddie's strong point was that he could "root" himself into a position and get rebounds that way. He was a quick leaper once planted. But not laterally. That's why his offensive skills in the 15 foot range were not very good. He just couldn't get himself in position to get off shots like that. Bosh can.

If Eddie's mind was right, I do believe that he could have been just what the Rockets were looking for. But when ones mind is not right, that player will never be able to reach his potential.

Regarding Bosh's comparisons to Garnett. Yes, they do have the same "type" of athletic ability. Very fluid in their motion. Very polished for a player of his age. Not mechanical like Eddie. Now before we blow this kid out of proportion, remember that he gets his shots because he allowed to due to other teams not paying attention to him. So, it's important to know that he's "not Garnett like" in that way. But the guys has skills, and definitely a good foundation to work with; as long as his head is on straight (unlike another player we all know...). He'll be an excellent player.

I thought Bosh wasn't worthy of a high pick early on, because I thought he'd struggle to put on some real muscle, much like Camby.

However, I remember seeing an interview with him right after he was drafted by the Raptors, and he really impressed me. The guy is smart, he knows the game, he STILL studies the game, he works VERY hard, and, physically, he's off the charts.

He's the new breed of PF, and I truly believe that he will be better than both Randolph and Amare. The only thing is, he needs to put on some strength. I think it's a blessing that he was drafted into the East, which makes his transition into the NBA easier, and hsi lack of size/strength less evident. I'm not saying that he's playing against scrubs, that's why he looks good. I'm saying, he was going to be damn good eventually no matter who drafted him, however, the process will take less time now that he's in the East.

The Raptors have a keeper, and if him and Jerome keep up the good play, they'd be smart to trade Jerome for a SF or a PG, and send their team back into the playoff chase. If not, they gambled, and no one really expected them to go near homecourt advantage anyway.

One thing's for sure though, it's not luck that got him 25/9 last night. He really looked like he knew what he was doing out there, he knew the plays, he knew what to do off the ball especially well, and there's no doubt this kid will be a top 2 PF in the league at some point in his career.

Did you not watch all of the rockets games last year... Because Eddie was pretty good on some instances here and there. and Bosh hasnt proved anything. For one he played so well against Cato, who IMO is still adjustiong to gaurding PF's

I did watch most of the Rockets game last year. I am not impress with EG at all. He played well for around 10 games out of 82 game season. Horrible 1 on 1 defender, no post up moves, horrible shooting form and is not motivated. The only thing he is good at is blocking shot coming from the weak side help.

    Look at EG's career numbers:

Mins FG% FT% Reb Blks Pts
    25 38.3 67.8 5.8 1.6 8.71

    Bosh's numbers:

Mins FG% FT% Reb Blks Pts
    27.5 51.6 85.2 5.1 1.1 8.8

I have seen 6 out of 10 Raptors game. Even though it's too early to tell, his game is more polish than EG. True Bosh hasnt prove anything "yet" but EG hasnt prove anything at all. At least Bosh can shoot with a nice arch which reminds me of Rashard Lewis. Even if he becomes a Rashard Lewis than a KG, it's still isnt bad. I'm not bashing on EG, but I think EG's potential will be just another role player with shot blocking ability.
