as zach lowe already pondered, there is a possibility DM is just paying CP3/JH lipservice by showing an attempt to obtain melo. who knows, maybe his metrics say anderson's spacing from 4ft behind the arc is better for us or he's scared about there not being enough ball to go around

How anyone gets that from what I wrote, if they did, is beyond me. Talks have been reported for weeks. I was only saying how impressive it would be if he pulled off a midnight deal tonight since I was with him so many hours leading up to midnight.

Oh wow, that is interesting. I don't know; that doesn't sound very Morey-like to me. A lot of fans here think Morey is dishonest and duplicitous when it comes to the players. They also continue to think that he is a slave to his numbers.

If Morey told CP3 he is trying to get Melo I believe he is trying to get Melo. I also don't think just because his numbers say one thing he won't go in another direction. Wasn't there a story about his numbers concluding that Deke was more effective than Yao? Morey didn't push the coaches to start Deke over Yao because of the numbers.

Let's not go that far! I love Morey and I love the Rockets. Don't make me choose between them. I don't have to anyway because loving the Rockets means I'd never share anything even if I knew something (I don't). I admit to enjoying reading inside info but I would hate to have it myself and if I did I would never share it. I'd never want to betray a friend's trust as anyone wouldn't but also I'd be too worried it could harm the team. I think @heypartner has always felt the same way but goes further by disliking inside info for this reason, which I think shows real team loyalty.

Here's a small tease about the musical we'll announce soon: it will put the lie to this notion for good and in a hilarious, incredibly imaginative fashion. You'll see what I mean...

from what you wrote, it was deduced that he's enjoying the offseason doing stuff he likes leisurely going about his evenings these days and can't be bothered.......while half of clutchfans meanwhile is on pins and needles 24/7, some getting no work done at work, some neglecting wifey time with the wifey, etc

as you said, you have no details. and if you have no details, then probably nobody (even on twitter) does. so for instance, do we really know that morey has even offered up our 2020 pick in a deal with NYK?

This is a little out of control. Daryl never stops working. He took calls while he was there. I've never been with him when he didn't. Sometimes even the busiest people still do things outside their jobs that are important to them. Daryl's been working on this musical for two years with us and we're having a weeklong workshop with artists in from NYC and Rome, Italy, and he's at some of the workshops. He also goes to MIT conferences and plays ping pong. It doesn't mean he isn't the busiest GM in the NBA every single day because I'm pretty sure he is.

And again I would never have details. My "reporting" was simply that I was with him for a few hours. There has been ample reason to believe a deal with Melo is pending since we're the only team he'll waive his no-trade clause for. It's obvious to anyone from the reporting that Daryl's been working on something like this but I know that from the sheer volume of stories (from actual insiders) saying so, not from anything I've been told. I haven't been told anything. I ask pretty much every time I see him and every time he just laughs me off. That's how we do.

Reading into my posts is like unto reading something into basketballholic's in the way that it is a dumb thing to do. I know nothing.

If you ever come to NY and have interest in Opera I have a friend who runs an Opera Company out of a warehouse in Brooklyn. They are Great shows.

Both sides are playing it cool, waiting until the other budges. It's a big staring contest.
