Well here's a little inside info I know and feel I can share. If Daryl is completing a deal around midnight he's incredibly good at multi-tasking. He was at a musical theatre workshop with me from 6 to 10. And we were on the phone talking about plays at 11. If he was magically completing a deal for Melo at the exact same time I think you have to give him executive of the year.
makes sense. as you've said in the past, ryan is his guy, who he coveted for several years. so why would he even try trading him for melo
honestly, if melo is willing to go to the cavs, why wouldn't new york make a deal for kyrie? i'd throw melo and picks. boom; you build around kyrie and prozingas and all of the sudden, the future looks bright for the knicks. the cavs get lebron insurance with the picks, and they replace kyrie with melo and rose, so they're still contending. makes a helluva lot more sense for the knicks than dealing with the Rockets.
Completing a deal by midnight? Is that PT or Mountain Time? Or is it tomorrow? What other inside info do you know?

To be clear I've cited reports that he's coveted Ryan. I didn't say he told me that. We talk about the play we're working on or sometimes just about theatre or basketball generally since we share both interests. We don't talk about player acquisition. I messed with his very cool teenaged son tonight by asking him flat out for info on Melo and he told me he doesn't know much and that's good because that way he never has to lie. My relationship with Daryl is the same though he would surely tell his son more than he'd tell me. He's always willing to talk with any fan about how he feels about various players, to a certain extent, when asked, but just in an open, friendly, sharing opinions like two fans do way. And when he's at the plays he seems to have an inexhaustible generosity about answering questions fans ask him. But it would be a horrible idea for him to give any of us inside info. That would be begging for a leak, no matter how nice everyone in our group is or how much we all love Daryl. I'm not saying anything about Melo here, only about the "midnight trade." And my post was mostly meant as a joke too though it also had the benefit of being factual.
Yes but it's unlike anything you've read in the media. Announcement to media coming around August 15, stories I expect will follow. We've been (mostly) keeping this secret for so long I'm dying for the real story on it to come out.
I honestly do that almost every time we talk but only to mess with him. I don't expect him to tell me and he knows I don't.
