11 run lead.... I'm guessing AJ is going to try and get out of this game with Sipp and Hoyt, give everyone else a day off. This is why our bullpen is wearing down. If you can't leave a guy in with an 11 (or 8) run lead, he doesn't belong in the majors. (And this is why I want a lefty upgrade, leaving Sipp off the playoff roster.)
Maybe it's being spoiled by this good season, but even in a blowout, to know that Sipp and Hoyte (who really started the season off well) are actual options is disheartening. These guys should rightfully take their proper spots after Keuchel and Harris return, let alone when we make a trade. We better make a trade.
There is a guy that comes into the shot when a left handed batter is up who is holding two beers. People started tweeting about it, and Kalas chimed in and said it was fake. He puts the cans down when a righty comes up.
How about brining Neshek back? He wasn't bad when he was here, better than a few of our current options. Worth a look I think if we don't get someone like Britton.
I know a lot of fans would roll their eyes at this, but Luhnow can look at these things dispassionately. And I could see him doing it. He's not the first reliever I'd target, but he is a known entity to the Astros coaching staff and the team would know what they're getting.
Even though watching Hoyt pitch makes my balls hurt, he's actually good for these late blowout innings.
