stephen a. smith said last night that the pacers are willing to give away jamaal tinsley.

i think he is the assist man we need coming off the bench.

we could offer griffin for him. im sure the pacers would love a line-up of :

    oneal
    griff
    harrington
    artest
    whoever

that front line would kill in the east. and tinsley would bring us out of dead last in the league in assists. and maybe even lead a fast break...

I wouldn't trade big for small, even if that big happeneds to spend more time in a hospital than on the court. (This of course if you mean E.Griffin) Maybe Amechi and A. Griffin for Tinsley. I haven't looked at the saleries, but I wouldn't mind getting rid of Amechi even if it means getting rid of a good defender in Griffin.

maybe the pacers will want Moochie?

he did single-handedly beat Indiana in that triple overtime game back in 2001 when he scored 28 points (11 in that 3rd OT).

I'd love to deal with the Pacers.

Right now, they need a damn good 2 to help out an ageing Reggie. They also have Artest at the 3, Bender as a 3rd stringer, and Bird/Carlisle love Croshere.

What I'm trying to say is that Harrington and Tinsley can be had, their value is low. We need a backup PG and a combo F too.

A deal I would love to do, but we would have to take back some half-bad contracts, is Mobley, Griffin, and a portion of the trade exception (around 2M) for Tinsley, Harrington, Brezec, Jones.

Indiana would love to shave a few million off their payroll, and that's exactly what this does. I believe they obtain the bird rights to Griffin, a one year contract. Mobley has 2 years, and 5M per season. they give us 3 years of Fred Jones, 2 years of Brezec, 2 years of Tinsley, and 2 years of Harrington. They shave, easily, 3 or 4M off their cap for THIS season, as well as save a LOT of long term money. Financially, they come out looking SUPERB.

In return, they solidify themselves to make a run at 1st seed:

    Pollard/Foster/O'Neal
    O'Neal/Griffin/Pollard
    Artest/Croshere/Bender
    Miller/Mobley
    Anderson/Johnson/Mobley?/Brewer

    We'd look like this:

    Yao/Cato
    MoT/Cato/A Harrington
    A Harrington/JJ/Boki
    JJ/Pike/Francis
    Francis/Tinsley/Moochie

For them, they get rid of 2 contracts, save lots of money, get minutes for Croshere, and trade 2 expendeable players. Tinsley has been DNP'ed 4 of the past 5 games, Harrington's minutes are limited.

We're giving up talent, but we're getting a lot of talent back - playoff tested young talent - which is good. We remove Moochie from the rotation, and improve our passing, as well as our size, flexibility, athleticism, and scoring at the F positions.

    Thoughts?

Sane -- this deal would obviously help us. The problem is -- I've seen Al Harrington play a lot, and he's really good. He's 22-8 if given enough PT everyday. He's further ahead than Bender is just better Croshere. Tinsley is 3rd string now so he can be had... except we have nothing they need. They do need someone to take over for Miller, who is really old, and Mobley could do that except the need a shooter at PG and Mobley is a slasher like half of their team. So we really have nothing they'd want. I mean if we did Mobley for Tinsley straight up they'd do it but it'd be a horrible deal for us because Tinsley wouldn't really improve the team that much.

What has happened to Tinsley anyway? He has been in the doghouse in Indiana all year. Not even being allowed to play.

Did he do something? Did he ask out Carlisle's daughter?
I haven't been able to find any reason.

Indy love Harrington, didn't they come out a while back and say Harrington and Bender were staying in Indy

When will you guys stop talking about trades that won't happen? Trading Mobley would be the dumbest thing the rockets would do, why would you want harrington or tinsley? We would be giving up way too much. Stop being such a Mobley hater. Just be patient and let this team play at least 1 year under JVG before you start tearing them apart. When will it stop. The Rockets will make the playoffs this year and maybe go as far as the second round this year. So just sit back and enjoy the ride........

Jeff Foster is doing a good job for them but I still think Cato and Foster would be better than Pollard/Foster. They still wouldn't get a PG but it would improve their frontcourt.
Cato/A.Griffin for Tinsley/Pollard would be ok with me but I doubt if Indiana would make the deal.
Mobley for Tinsley would be a bad deal for us.

I highly doubt Indy would let him go for nothing. At least a late 1st rounder most likely.

But us trading something of value for Tinsley? No thanks. People have been overrating him on this board for a long time now.

He's good at running the break. That's his only strength which doesn't make up for his weakenesses, primary among those is his horrid Cato-esque jumpshot.

Now if it's us unloading trash for him, sure, but like I said, Indy will want something decent for him.

i think some of you may be over-estimating eddie griffin's trade value right now. couple that with moochie's contract and we are lucky to get a decent offer.

CriscoKidd - you are right about tinsley. all he is good for is running the fast break. and no, he can't shoot. however you have to look at it this way, moochie can't shoot either and nobody on our team can run a fast break better than i can. we are not losing anything here, only gaining. also-he was among the league leaders in steals as well as ast's before he was put in the dog house.

FA's signed in the off season cannot be traded until when, 12/30? Something like that.

I am confident Indy would like Cato and/or Mobley. But, for what? Both of them would require too many changes for the team looking like the Beast of the East, in early going.

Still, if they wanted KC, CM, and MN for AH, SP, and JT I would sit up and listen.

the rockets should make a run for tinsely. hell ; the pacers allready have kenny anderson and anthony johnson hoggoing pt. if the pacers dont need him, the rockets sure could, because mocchie in the back up point position is useless.
