When i saw Patrick Ewing in your sentence, I thought you were going to suggest we get rid of Ewing and get Hakeem to teach Yao...
I believe you'd think differently if your daddy would take off his belt, pull your pants down, put you over his knee, and beat some sense into you.
I agree Mobely is the one to go, but this has been discussed at length previously. The new poster who started this thread would not know this, however, of course. The hyperbolic drama of the response reminds me of nothing so much as our friend Cuttino, and his bugg-eyed, pitiful, pained-expression protests after yet another non-call on a brainless fadeaway jack (Note : opponent scores on breakaway during exuberant, drama-queen performance). Cattino, you're never, ever going to get that call. You are not a star, and at your age, you're never going to be. Stop pretending NBC is going to swing the camera from LeBron to fawn over you. Just play the game and let the real stars have their camera time. Cat fan, stop pretending you're going to ever make a good case for him clogging up the court. There is no price point at which bad play becomes good. There's no silver medal for his past "accomplishments". There's no reason to think that the 29 yr old streetballer is suddenly going to transform into a shiny, new team-play robot. Resistance is futile. Cat will not be assimilated, therefore, he must be eliminated.
Man, this trade-Mobley or Mobley bashing nonsense has to stop. I will have to admit I am a Yao-only-fan, but to me Mobley is the only asset that Rox can't afford to lose simply because there is no return of equal value. There are probably no other players in the league who is making so less money while making so much contribution to their teams. Well, there might be some, like Malone or Payton, but don't think Lakers will trade them away. Shrimpie P.S. I am so tired of reading those lopsided trade proposals favoring Rockets on this board. Is it possible to create a trade proposal/discussion forum for those smart asses?
HB, read the other posts that that individual has put up. They generally consist of ridiculous statements comprised of inflammatory statements crapping on the Rockets players(generally steve and cuttino) wi th the exception of one individual, even after the Rockets win by 30 and they shoot 50%. In addition, they tend to display little to no knowledge of basketball. I could go back and prove it to you if I had the time, but trust me, I'm not the only person who has that poster on the ignore list. Until you see me start up a thread that says" Yao must be traded because he SUCKS and its all his fault!!!!!!" I'll have officially have become as 'bad' as they are. Until then, I'm just a rational rockets fan trying to cut through some of the b.s. that seems to have taken over this board lately.
How true. We should definitely start trading established NBA-level starters for players who's real game hasn't yet come out, but who might be stars one day. Um... only how do we go about doing that? It's soooooooo easy to say we should have made that trade now that Redd *is* performing at a high level. We probably could've traded Mobley for Tyson Chandler last year, or for Gilbert Arenas the year before that, or for Ben Wallace a few years ago. It's truly moronic to say that we should have known in advance that these players would drastically step up their games the following year. In fact, Sweetie, give me a list of 3 or 4 non-starters who are going to be top-level players next year. I'll bet you miss every single one of those picks.
