Is Eric Nally the new Michael Jackson? I've been a huge fan of his since the early days of Foxy Shazam. They were so underrated, and their live sets were amazing. They had the potential to be this generation's Queen, to be honest. Just never realized it.Their last CD wasn't great, but it was made as they were splitting. Anyways, Eric Nally is the guy that sings in Maclemore's "Downtown". I know some may find him annoying, but there's no denying the vocal talent. He's got the mystique/mysterious persona to fit later Michael Jackson, as well. He just launched his solo career, which I've been waiting for for a long time. Here's the first song: I realize most people will hate it, but tell me what you guys think. I think this guy is going to be a huge star.
For the longest time I didnt know who sang this when it came on the radio(too lazy to shazam) but always thought it was a MJ reincarnate.
It was a nice pop song, but Micheal Jackson!? naw. People always trying to crown the next Michael Jackson when a singer comes out with a decent falsetto. The way music is going, there will never be another one like him.
This. Until an artist has four consecutive songs debut at #1 at the age of 11, there will never be another Michael Jackson.
I checked this thread thinking there was some "new" unreleased song(s) from his vault being premiered. Disappointed to find out this was not the case
And It's so much more than that too. Micheal Jackson dominated the freaking world. I think the only contemporary artists that come close to his world wide appeal and cultural penetration are Taylor Swift (yes she is that popular), Beyonce and Adele. I say "close" but it's not even close. Their talent is amazing, but MJ blows all them out of the water several times over. I was listening to Kanye's College Dropout album a couple days ago and wondered when such an iconic album suddenly didn't do it for me. Micheal Jackson's (and Jackson 5's) Songs/Albums still hold up 30-40 years later. MJ's cultural relevance is undeniable and inescapable. I'm sure OP didn't mean anything by the comparison; but now I think about the breath of talent, performance, influence, it's kind of an offensive comparison. You guys should watch the Micheal Jackson documentary - Michael Jackson's Journey from Motown to Off the Wall. It's excellent
Until I hear of him somewhere outside of this thread I will reserve my judgement on whether he's the next MJ
Oh, of course. Just making the point that he accomplished more at the age of 11 than any of his "contemporaries" have in their entire careers. So really, he has no contemporaries. And most likely never will. Watched that a few months ago. Really well done.
Not saying he will ever have the success of MJ. I'm just comparing the voices. I don't think anyone will come close to that long and that amount of success in the future, with our newfound sense of distraction in recent society. Strictly comparing the voices here, folks. Between Eric Nally and The Weeknd, I feel fans of MJ should be satisfied.
Such a high comparison set him up for failure Reminds me of the Talent show scene in the 5 Heartbeats Rocket River
16 posts in, and there's no mention of Bruno Mars. CF, I am disappoint. Mars is the closest we'll get to a Michael Jackson, for a while. In this day and age? I don't think this will ever happen. Tastes / generations / people change. If Bieber couldn't do it at the height of his powers, it's hard to see anyone wanting to listen to a child sing.
