Yao's comment with Chinese media after the game. Rough translation: "In the beginning I might tried too much. I was trying to change my style, which leads to a couple of bad plays and missed several shots. Coach wanted me to initiate more physical contact with opponents, I was trying to do that. I need to get used to be aggressive. Later on in the match, I found my rythym. I believe if I be more aggressive, the skill side is easy. ¡¡¡¡ÈüºóÒ¦Ã÷±³¿¿×Åǽ±Ú£¬×øÔÚµÊ×ÓÉϽÓÊÜÁ˼ÇÕߵIJɷ㬲»¹ý¿ÉÄÜÊǸմòÍê±ÈÈüµÄÔµ¹Ê£¬Ò¦Ã÷µÄÉùÒô²¢²»Ï죬¶øÇÒ»¹ÓÐЩ´_£º¡°¸Õ¿ªÊ¼µÄʱºòÎÒ´òµÄ±È½ÏÐ×£¬ÒòΪÎÒÊÔͼ¸Ä±äÎÒ×Ô¼º£¬Õâµ¼Ö¼¼Êõ±äÐΣ¬ËùÒÔÓм¸´ÎͶÀº»ú»áûÓаÑÎÕס¡£ÄãÖªµÀ£¬½ÌÁ·Ï£ÍûÎÒÄܹ»¶àºÍ¶ÔÊÖ½øÐÐÉíÌå½Ó´¥£¬¶øÎÒȷʵҲÔÚÕâô×ö£¬ÎÒҪϰ¹ßÖ÷¶¯¡£Ëæ×űÈÈüµÄ½øÐУ¬ÎÒÖØÐÂÕÒ»ØÁË×Ô¼º£¬ÎÒÏàÐÅÖ»Òª½ñºóÎÒ¶àÖ÷¶¯£¬ÄÇôʲô¼¼Êõ¶¼¿ÉÒÔÁ·ºÃ£¬µ±È»·½Ê½Ò²ºÜÖØÒª¡£¡± ¡¡¡¡Ò¦Ã÷ËƺõÏÝÈëÁËÌåÄÜÆ¿¾±£¬Á¬ÐøµÄÕ÷Õ½Èá°Ð¡¾ÞÈË¡±¸Ðµ½Æ£±¹£¬²»¹ýÈüºóÒ¦Ã÷±íʾ×Ô¼º½ñÌ첢ûÓб»Æ£ÀÍ»÷ÍË£¬Ò¦Ã÷˵µÀ£º¡°Ó¦¸Ã˵Õâ²¢²»ÊÇÎÒ±¾Èü¼¾±íÏÖµÄ×îºÃµÄÒ»³¡±ÈÈü£¬ÎÒÖ»ÄÜ˵ÕâÊÇÒ»³¡½ôÕÅ¡¢¼¤ÁÒºÍÌåÄÜÏûºÄ¾Þ´óµÄ±ÈÈü¡£²»¹ýÎҸе½ÎÒսʤÁËÆ£ÀÍ£¬²¢ÇÒ¼á³Öµ½ÁË×îºó£¬ÕâÈÃÎҺܸßÐË¡£¡±£¨ http://china.yaoming.net/2003/11/15/61/news215636161.shtml
It is going to take a couple of years for Yao to be able to be comfortable playing agressive. It is a different skill sets that need to be learned between a power player and a finesse player.
With 310 pounds, if Yao can initiate contact consistently, sooner or later, he will dominate. He still needs to learn how to shoot under physical contact. It is totally different from shooting without contact.
tie and sun you guys are both right on. on a side note....can anyone name a player who has transformed his game from finesse to power? i can't think of anyone off the top of my head. it's pretty amazing that we have a guy who is willing to rework his whole game to dominate in the NBA.
I don't think there are enough physical players in the NBA as it is. Shaq is probably the only true physical player in the NBA.
Amare 's game IMHO seems to be based on being physical player to get his points... which is why Yao will be better because Yao already has the skills and finesse part of his game, now all he needs is POWER game. He need to implement a power drop step.
for the second paragraph Yao said " I should say this is not my best game in this season so far. The only thing I could say is that this is a tight, severe and extremely exhausting match. But I felt that I overcame my fatigue issue and persist in playing the game, this makes me very happy."
Yao was hammered several times and the refs simply refused to send him to the line. On the 1st or 2nd play of the game, Yao's dunk was blocked by Amare, then a few minutes later, Yao blocks Amare in a similar fashion, but was called for the foul! The plays looked very similar to me, yet the visiting player gets the call. Refs must favor the rookie of the year.
Man, Yao need to keep "I'm tired" to himself after every game. I'm getting real sick of hearing it. It's beginning to be a bad excuses and almost a whining. Common BIG guy, work on it and stop feeding the people your negative side. Not only that, he needs to stay away from the BBS forum and answering fans altogether.
What the hell? Keep it to himself? The dude is not knocking down your door and whispering his relative fatigue in your ear while you are sleeping. If you don't want to hear his honest feelings about how is doing or feeling, then don't read his website or don't read these threads. I personally think it's pretty amazing he is willing to do this at all. How many other players have you heard of that give this kind of direct feedback to fans?
Humm... he said he was tired, did he use that as an excuse? He was simply stating his condition during the game. -G'day-
It is better you step away from this board. How do you hear that you use "I am tired" as a excuse... You are not welcomed to post such bad message.
Lookit here, seems like I woke up Yao BIG fan. I love Yao but he needs to keep it to himself most of the time or else people jsut going to read between the line. Yeah maybe he's being honest but stating your weakness for all to hear is not a good idea. I would preferred he just work on his stamina and by saying he's tired and so on after every game isn't a good idea. Its not only after games he states he's tired. Most FANS doesn't want to hear that and his being tire all the time will only make people think of him that is his total weakness and can't play to NBA standard. Would you people like to hear Yao keep on saying "I'm weak" and on and on after a game? That's how it beginning to sound like to me like a broken record. Yeah no wonder he's always tired because now fans want him to come and spend time with them. Spending too much time on the net and playing games while he should relax. It's all good Yao's doing all this but and we don't know what else he's been doing that takes away more of his private time. I don't think he totally enjoy answering fans questions but as in his culture, it out of respect no matter if he doesnt like it. It take one to know one. http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/quotes031114.html
