Let me start off by saying that I am 6'1''. I went to my first game last night against Phoenix and the leg room was horrible. I didn't get up from my seat the whole game because I didn't want to have to force anyone to have to physically get out of their seat. Yes, you can't just squeeze by someone. They have to actually stand up in order for you to get by. Both of my feet continually were falling asleep during the course of the game. When the game ended and I stood up, I couldn't feel my left foot because it was asleep. The area behind my knee on my right leg was sore as if I had just gone through a leg workout at the gym. It was so uncomfortable. I'd rather sit on a wooden crate and watch the game if it meant that my feet didn't fall asleep. The chairs were comfortable and all, but what the hell were they thinking?
Man, I thought they said it was spacious in the new and improved seats. I havent made it out to a game yet, but from your story, when I do it's going to be an adventure. LOL
From my experience at some of the Rockets games at Toyota Center so far, the $52 seats are not spacious at all while the $37 tickets are VERY spacious. I think they are the $40 ones normally, but if you ordered the Yao Ming 6-game ticket package they bump the price down to $37. Its like night and day...
I've heard the same thing about the seats. I'm a tall drink of water and I got to stretch my $hit out so I know I'm not going to like it. The price you pay for getting all of the seats closer to the game I guess.
The $9 and $13 seats are the WORST for leg room. Those seats are so dreadfully uncomfortable, I would rather watch the game at home than at the stadium. If I'd realized they were so bad, I would have skipped the season tickets this year . . . The $19 seats are not so bad, as the legroom is the same, but the seat itself is more comfortable than the $9 and $13 ones. I totally sympathize with you countingcrow -- when I'm wearing my work boots, I can hardly fit my feet under the seat. I guess there's nothing they can do about it, but it is disappointing, especially considering how much they poured into the expensive seats. It couldn't have cost that much more to hook the fans in the cheap seats up with something nicer . . .
This is laughable. I've been to my fair share of stadiums/arenas, and, unless everyone sitting in your aisle is a 9 year old girl, people have to get up to let you out. When people were trying to get by me at the game last night, I stood up...is that unexpected I don't think it's worse than Compaq Center.
The seats are wider but the aisles are narrower front to back. If they didn't do that, the seats would be further away from the floor. You have to pick your poison. I agree that it is tougher to get in and out of your seats, but if you've ever been to other buildings, the distance is much different from them.
To tell you the truth when they say theyre giving you more leg room it really does mean for the lower bowl. Any arena made in the past 5 years or so is not very spacious at all. SBC center upper deck is terrible but you can tell the lower bowl has plenty of room. Im here in Boston going to school and the leg room at the Fleetcenter is OK but upperdeck its still bad....lower tier its actually pretty good... Owners want to squeeze as many new seats into the building as possible i guess
Luckily, I was on the left sideline in one of the upper sections. This seems to be only in the nosebleeds. Ouch... I think I just stepped on someone's shoes trying to get out of my desk here at the office...
we dont even have that many seats like 18,250 or something, and the legs room sucks. has anybody been to the arenas with like 19,000 and 20,000 plus seating and do u know if the legroom and view is worse than TC?
I agree with Jeff. The leg room is too small, but welcome to the modern world. To be comfortable, I would need about 25% more room, and there is no way I am willing to pay 25% more. My complaint though is that the rows seem real long. At the Summit my tickets were is a row that I think was 12 across. So me an my buddy, though sitting on hte aisle, had to getup for only four people. At TC my row is 24 seats across. I I am four from the end, but have to let 7even people by. It reall does seem to me taht I am up and down all night here. Also, my seats are section 115, row 27. Basically the cheapest seats downstairs. Does anybody know if the row in front of me, which costs more, has bigger seats or more leg space. I keep meaning to check, but full houses, good games, and a mind like a sieve have kept me from trying for myself. The cup holders in my price area ar on the arm rests and fairly uncomfortable. In the row below, they are on the seat backs. That is what makes me think "they" ay have an inch or two more leg room.
I tested the seat spacing and found that most downstairs are fairly roomy, while the upstairs ones are not as comfortable and the front row has limited footroom. This was a general observation but found many spots that were the reverse, both lower and upper decks.
I distinctly remember being able to move my legs to the left/right a couple of inches to let someone by in the Compaq Center. I never had to physically rise from my seat to let someone by. Am I the only one?
I've been to a lot of arenas for different sports across the league, and I've gotta say that by far the best seats (for space) are here in Wisconsin, at the Kohl Center and the Bradley Center, and the worst is at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis. They have the worst (and smallest) seats in existence in the lower level, and metal bleachers in the upper level, without any leg room anywhere.
Man oh man. I didnt know $9 and $13 ticket seats for any ball game existed this day & age. I pay $15 just for parking( which is about a half-mile away from the Fleetcenter) when I go see the Celtics. You Houstonians have no idea how lucky you guys are. I'd attend every rockets game if I lived anywhere near Houston.
I went to Philips Arena at Atlanta to watch the Hawks/Rox game last season. The footroom over there is quite spacious, at least wont make my legs go numb.
At the AAC here in Dallas there is basically no leg room at all. The seats are nice and comfertable but when you are seated the heels of your feet are almost under your seat. On top of that the seats are extreamly steep and go almost straight up so if you loose your balance and fall you are going for quite a fall. Anyway the point is that the TC is probably the wave of the new Arenas. I know at the AAC there is absolutely no way anyone is coming or going from an isle with out everyone including 9 year old little girls having to stand up to let them by.
For my first and last trip to the disgusting Toyota Center I had $30 tickets in the upper deck. I am 5'8" and in decent shape, and the lack of legroom was nearly phyically unbearable. I have been to most every basketball arena on the east coast (Boston, NY, NJ, Philly, DC, Miami - and the RCA Dome as well, for that matter), and I have not encountered anything as offensive as the Toyota Center in terms of the crass and cynical indifference to the comfort (and physical well-being) of average (non-wealthy) fans. And guess what? Houston's stuck with this sh*thole for the next 30 years. Basketball, hockey, concerts, ice capades, whatever they put in there. And guess what else? People are only going to get bigger. I promise you, someone is going to fall and seriously injure themselves up there. And if there's any justice the bastards that signed off on this joke of an arena will get sued to bejesus.
Ya'll should have seen the SBC Center last season, I went to a Rox vs. Spurs preseason game and it had the worst leg room I've ever seen. The Toyota Center is a tight squeeze, but the SBC Center was worst, I think the redid the seats during the offseason for more leg room.
Speaking of the TC. Is it more cheap to buy tickets by phone or online? What I mean is, are the "convenience" charges the same?
