You may want to put away your rose colored glasses revisit the tapes. There was constant tension between Barkely and Drexler / Dream in the locker room, Barkely was lazy and didn't want to work out or practice.

Also the chemistry on that team was nowhere near the level when Sam and Horry were there.
After that one season where we barely made it past Seatle and lost to Utah in the next round it was a pretty rapid decline and the beginning of the dark ages for the next 10+ years.

If I turn out to be wrong serve up the crow with some ketchup but IMHO Melo doesn't impress me as much as he does to some of you.

 

agree that barkley was a cancer. but i think melo would flourish here because all he has to do is make open jumpers, which is something he loves doing and is still very capable of. barkley wanted to keep posting up even though he couldn't jump anymore and that was not something that fit in with #'s 34 & 22. i see melo as sort of a glen rice complement when he won w/ shaq & rapist..

 

Melo is a 1 year experiment, 2 years at the most if he opts in

stretch 4 is a very specific term. @BigMaloe is right, he is absolutely is the best stretch 4/shooting big man in the game.

There was a time when Kyle Korver was the best shooter in the game but that didn't make him more valuable than stars

You can be the best at something and other guys can still be more valuable if they bring other things to the table.

BTW we should definitely keep ryan anderson unless it's for a 3rd star. he helps our team a lot but stars are unique

 

Barkley a cancer here? Not true. Plus Melo's better than Barkely was at this point in their respective careers. Barkley couldnt get you 40pts on any given night like Melo can. Barkley's time here wasnt bad at all, he was just old

True Dat, I am really very disappointed in the lack of happenings in happening bunker smh.
My gf kept saying it's me or clutchfans. I am an obsessive sob she said.

Barkley was a monster that season and was pretty clearly our best player. It was Dream that was aging rapidly. Clyde and Hakeem had lost their mojo and Barkley was the only hungry player left. All you have to do is watch the Sonics series to see that, and then watch us against the Sonics years prior.
