East vs. West... Knicks may be trash, but with Harkless and Barea they could end up being respectable in East (better than ATL, BRK, IND, ORL) whereas DAL might be at bottom of West (better than PHO and LAL maybe MEM)

Maybe or maybe POR realizes they have a shot at 4th seed in West (so low 1st rounder who won't contribute to their top 10 in 2018) + already have another 2nd in 2021 (from Miami). Davis won't play. So it is essentially Harkless & low 1st for Anderson who could actually propel them to WC legitimacy. One man's trash is another man's treasure. adding Melo gives us a much higher ceiling as a team and increases our odds of re-signing CP3

Certainly speculative, but does Miami make sense as a third (or fourth?) team for them to move Dragic as well? Granted, they enjoyed success last season but there was murmurs prior that they were trying hard to move him post-Wade and rebuild around Whiteside/Winslow.

Seems that this would be our absolute deadline for any big move done this off season, correct?
