Melo got injured. MDA was forced to start Lin. They won about 10 games in a row (ruining our pick in the process). When Melo came back from injury, the Knicks promptly started losing again. Everybody knew Melo didn't like MDA's system.

Melo is not harden, leborn, Westbrook level, he is just an 2nd line player, not the top. He should not self regards as big star

So basically yer saying that if yer gonna win, you shouldn't be fearful of the potential impact of egos affecting one another... and by extension chemistry.... Darryl?

I don't think it's 'frail personality'. A coaching career relies heavily on reputation. You don't want to stay in a situation where someone else can control your reputation.

So you're right to be worried, but for the wrong reasons. :p

The NBA (and most any sports league) is littered with guys who have an overly inflated sense of self worth.... doesnt make it right... but it is what it is....

Like Kenny Smith said, in this case Carmelo will be guarded by the other team's 2nd or even 3rd best defender. He hasn't been in that situation much.

James has been in the league for a while. He's had his time to be a young stupid guy with more money than he knows what to do with. He's had his time to show that he can be an unstoppable force that should have won two MVPs, and he's earned the biggest contract in NBA history because of it. And it's James that's been asking for help. He got it. Now it's gut check time; there are zero excuses now for him not to do everything to win that championship. Hard defense, cooperative offensive, and wise decisions off the court...it's all got to be there. No excuses anymore. If Paul lays into him, he needs to man up, accept responsibility for what he did, and make sure he doesn't do it again.

That said, Les and Morey went all in this offseason to get talent here. However, I hope they don't think virtuosic working of the system and spending a lot of money is going to spontaneously produce a championship. These players are their investments, and it's ultimately up to them to make sure the stars they brought actually work well together. If they don't take an interest along with D'Antoni in fostering the chemistry it will take to make this all work, they're not brilliant; they're just stat monkeys with too much money to play with.

I truly hope everyone involved is ready to step up and do what it takes to make this arrangement happen. There are no excuses anymore.

I don't worry about that reason. It's become a players league..... Coaches have less and less saying unless their name is Popovich.

Melo will make Htown a circus if he comes here. He and Harden will not mash.

Small ball 5 for Carmelo? Otherside of that I don't know it'll work since his bread and butter is a midrange postup game where the Rockets disavow all midrange shots.

But he acts like he is, and that can hurt this team!
