Gasol would be a great addition but I'm pretty sure he is staying with SA and would cost too much anyways Afflalo would be another excellent wing for depth. Speights makes a lot of sense and has a relationship with CP3. We need a solid veteran point guard on the bench. Barbosa, Rodriguez, and possibly Williams could be some options. Tony Allen could bring more of that grit and veteran presence that every championship team needs. I think Cam Oliver and Zhou Qi have the potential to make an impact sooner rather than later. Oliver could be huge on the nights that Nene needs off. My guess is that Morey is patient and watches for buyout candidates like Dwayne Wade, Joakim Noah, Tyson Chandler. Personally I am not sold on Taylor or Williams yet.
I'm optimistic about their bench being overhyped and that hype translating to overconfidence. Certainly a top 10 bench, but they don't have a single player who would dream of matching up with Gordon.
Title said "Our Bench?", so I thought he wanted to know who all he wanted on our bench. Trot Williams definitely needs to be in the 9-10 man rotation. He's shown he can play
Too many seasoned Vets are not good. Nene, EG, Paul, Ariza, Harden and Melo/Anderson is adequate...maybe one more in the front court. You need players like Zhou, Taylor, Nanu, Troy, Hartlestien and Oliver that has room for improvement. That's how you get better. Also, since we don't have draft picks, you need assets (young players on good contracts)
Starters................................................Bench PG) CP3...............................................Gordon/Isaiah Taylor SG) Harden...........................................Gordon/Tucker SF) Ariza..............................................Tucker/Troy Williams?? PF) Ryno (until it's not Ryno)...............Ariza/Qi/Cameron Oliver C) Capela.............................................Nene/Chinanu A) Either CP3 or Harden will be in the game to facilitate; Gordon/Taylor complement. B) SF options remaining: Troy Williams/Sefolosha/Dunleavy. I'm content with Troy Williams; but at what cost? Morey has wanted Dunleavy for years and I suspect he is in a holding pattern until Rockets sort things out. Cheap one year deal that counters Warriors signing Casspi. C) Melo would replace Ryno. Ryan spaces the floor better; but Melo has potential to do everything else better. Addition of Tucker allows Ariza to play some PF. Some sites claim Tucker can play PF. D) Willie Reed or Dedmon. If they are too expensive, Chinanu it is. Suck it up until an injury happens.
Would love to I'd love to grab Barbosa (he has good size and is is very versatile) on the cheap... he is getting up there in age though like 35 I think.
Justin Hamilton was just waived by the Raptors after the Carroll trade. He would be a pretty solid #3 C behind Nene and Capella and hopefully available for the minimum.
Vesely or Smoove would be interesting on this team, but what about Qi, Oliver and Uthoff? And if another point is needed I hope we give long look at Taylor or Jamaal Franklin. Need some youth to balance out the vets.
Williams is Team USA, friends with the banana boat boys and a decent backup PG. He could be had for cheap.
The Rockets need some younger guys to fill the 9th to 15th spot. Can't have only vets on the team given their chances for injury and age-related decline.
