If you have a weak bench like the Twolves do, who else can you sign for 2yrs/8.9mm that can provide more of a scoring punch + experience than crawford. his contract is very fair.
Think we need to adjust for context here. "Good" players now get 15-20 per/year deals. Crabbe, Porter, Hardaway, Ryno, Bazemore, etc. A deal which annually uses 5% of the salary cap - like Crawford's - is no longer anywhere near the going rate for a good player. I think Simmons was entirely offbase. "Affection" would have been fair if the deal was 2/18.9 or 2/28.9 - It's 2/08.9. I think it's fair to make the case that on the body of Crawford's work in the last few seasons that this type of deal is easily justifiable.
This is a good cheap deal for the T-Wolves, no doubt. I'm just saying Crawford doesn't make them much better, if any. Exactly.
They should have kept Rubio so they could have saved enough of their cap for Milsap IMO. He would have made that team a monster.
There's a lot they could've done to make their team better but as it stands I don't see them beating anyone in the playoffs.
After getting Butler Thibs GM decisions have not been that good. Instead of Millsap or at least Patterson, he signed Taj. Instead of keeping Rubio or signing Hill he signed Teague.
Minnesota is slowly putting together a good team. Dieng, Towns, Butler, Wiggins, Jeff Teague and Jamal Crawford off the bench.
I mean. It's almost for the minimum so yeah he's worth that. It would be a shame if Crawford got minutes over Tyus Jones just because Thibs can't communicate with a younger player.
