I don't get your logic. Just because that SF was "labelled" or "considered" a shoot-first PG, so he could not or should not go for the assists? The problem is what "he thinks" is not right. An assist is equal if not more than two points.

SF is not a point guard. He just can not pass the ball and his basketball IQ is not very good. I think he will be a much better player and probably a super start if he plays at the 2.
SF's problem is he doesn't have ability to pass, even he want. TV commentators had comments at that day.
