    great post Clutch.
people just love the TEAM. alot of people complain that francis doesn't look at the team and plays for himself. they also do not look at the team. we Need Yao and francis. we have a great tea. sure we ost to dallas (one of the top contenders). so what. if we won this game i would be surprised. beating dallas in dallas is verry difficult. Let us all enjoy our team. including francis and Yao.

Clutch could you please post that gem of wisdom and common sense as a sticky thread and then immediately lock it so nobody can tarnish its beauty. It's pure, and represents all that is good about Rocket fandom.

Let's see where Yao is five years into the league and compare that to where SF is now. I am guessing that Steve is a Penny Hardaway kind of guy where Yao will be the dominant piece on a perennial Championship contender. SF is five years in and has not changed. In his defense he seems to be "buying into" VG's system. When the system breaks down on the court SF and Norris all too often revert to dribble out the clock for a bad shot. Steve has got to show he can lead this team through good aand bad. Tonite will be a big test. Marbury has always gotten STeve into a personal pissing contest and usually to the team's detriment. Let's see if Steve can stay in his role and leave the pissing match alone. Yao is still too new to this league to judge as a failure. Yes there are many things he needs to improve on.
He will get better!. If we continue to be this same team through out this year and next, Yao would be foolish not to consider moving on when his contract is up here.

I don't think Steve is overrated. Otherwise he will be a member of 2008 Olympic team. He is not overrated by NBA officials and coaches but by us, basketball fans.

At this point in time Steve Francis is the BEST Player on the Rockets Team. The only problem he is being asked to do things that are not his strengths. The Franchise is a great 'Scorer' not a 'Play Maker'! He is being diverted from what he does best by playing Point Guard. The present would be completely different if Mobley and Padgett had a half way decent game last night, and a Rockets Victory. Also the Center isnt being used effectivly.

Great post as usual Clutch! Not to disagree with you but I personally feel that it's still a bit premature to classify Yao & Francis as "superstars". The jury is still out on both players. I'm what you'd consider "old school" and cannot bear to watch Francis' game anymore - he simply doesn't "get it". There is an growing uneasiness in me about Yao. His game appears to be regressing - he has started playing like a passive, timid schoolgirl. I'd recommend holding off on the "superstar" label at least until we see them playing in the post season. To me, the true mark of a "superstar" is the ability to carry a team to success - something we have yet to see from them on a night in, night out basis.

Jason Kidd led the NBA is turnovers last season over Steve Francis. Isn't he considered the best PG in the league. Kobe, Iverson, Pierce, and Arenas all were in the top 10.

Doesn't that tell you that the true PLAYERS have the ball in there hands most of the time. How many Francis turnovers were passes into Yao, where the ball was tipped out of Yao's hands before he completely received the pass. I'm glad Steve doesn't read this mess in here because if I was him I would just take people off the dribble and shoot everytime like AI. We got players shooting at women, banned for substance abuse, nursing injuries, and the guys that show the most emotion about winning Steve and Cuttino get bashed. Francis is the only player besides Garnett and Kobe to average over 21-6-6 last season. I'll take that on anyday. But all I see is Steve don't do this, Steve don't do that. Don't you think Francis can score more than 14 points a night if he wanted to. Dude is trying to pass to Yao, but when we down by 14, I dont blame him and Mobes for trying to make it happen. But go on and keep bashing him. When he really goes out and plays for himself we will know when he's dropping 30 a night on another team.http://www.nba.com/statistics/2002/default_regular_season_leaders/LeagueLeadersTPGQuery.html

    Dude. The problem Francis's 30+ avarage doesn't
always translate to win. He has been like that for the past
several years, and you know the results. As a PG, he need
to set up plays and make his teammate better.

This thread will set up a record after tonight's game, win or lose. I'm expecting an all-out war between Francise lover and Hater.

I was watching the clips of the games MJ & the Bulls played in their titles years this weekend, (I have over 100 taped games:D ) I cannot believe how many stupid things MJ was doing in those games. He chose to go 1-on-many than passing to his opening teammates from time to time; he often gambled to steal on the defensive end, etc; he ignored the instruction for plays called by the coach.

This is the guy many consider the best player ever played the game, but he still did those stupid things. Francis was no way near the level MJ presents, so I guess if we can tolerant MJ for being "stupid", then we should give Francis the latitude, too.

Patients is the key here. After all, no one expect the Rockets to go 81-1.

Did you just compare Francis to Jordan?? Having the greatest player of all time doing "stupid" things as you say and then saying Francis should be granted the same leeway is asinine. Jordan has 6 rings. How many does Francis have? (not including the ones he found in cracker jack boxes.)
