This. Ariza is more likely back up 4 with with PJ playing the 3 whenever Anderson subs out. I don't get why people are so eager to see us get out rebounded again.

I'm sure rockets will throw out a lot of lineups with Tucker and Ariza at the forward spots, switching everything. Not only will it be impossible to tell who is PF, it won't matter. Personally I want another rotation caliber wing so rockets can take it to another level. I could totally see situations where Dantoni throws out harden, CP3, and three wings to try and flummox the other team.

We had to give up Bev. Dekker, Montrez, Lou and a draft pick for the Paul sign and trade. It will be interesting to see what Boston has to give Utah for the Hayward sign and trade.

Over or under. I'm betting "under" what we gave LA. Not hating on Morey, just think it's interesting.

It will most certainly be "under". For one, the Celtics dont have to clear as much cap space. And second, CP3 is the FAR superior player.

Imo, Morey gave up too much to a team with little leverage.

I think i agree, but it's hard to question any move that netted you Chris Paul without giving up Gordon or Capela.

Crunch and game time line up will be these players:

    Paul
    Harden
    Gordon
    Ariza
    Capela or Nene

Bev is a borderline starter. He really benefited from MDA and playing next to Harden. If he's gonna run the show with Rivers by his side that's going to be one fugly offense and he's going to struggle bad.

Players like Lou (undersized, aging scorers that struggle to defend) seem to always be available (Bobby Jackson, JET, NVE from the past; Monta Ellis currently, Jeff Teague shortly etc.)

It's not even clear if Dekker or Trez can carve out a role and last in this league.

We gave up too little even if only for a year.

I don't think people quite understand what all we traded for..... not just CP3 but CP3 at over 10 million less than what it would cost to sign him..... that's value..... value costs....

Of course Gordon's gonna get less, when has anyone ever robbed anyone in a sign in trade? A first rounder or 2 seems to be the max unless a team is just trying to get rid of salaries.

I guess we also traded for Chris Paul's "pull", AKA the increase in desirability for other players to come here ...beyond the SnT cap flexibility. I get it; i'm a fan of the move; well worth it. I'm just eager to see what Utah gets from Boston because for them, he was basically Chris Paul.

I feel most people get way too caught up in positions. All that really matters is the matchup on a given night. Can pj play the 4 against the warriors? Yes. But could he play it against the pelicans? Probably not. It doesn't matter what position we try to box players in, it's only dependent on who they have to guard. As Jalen rose loves to say, "positions were only created so that the novice could follow along." The key to winning and having a chance at the warriors is to have guys who can play perimeter or inside and most importantly be able to shoot the 3 while providing, if not good, than at least willing defense.

The matchup angle can only work for 1 or 2 games and the team with a decent IQ and decent head coach would adjust.

Reliable Defense is always key. Agreed.

pj is a capable backup 4 especially with small ball. very much depends on the matchup. it's positionless basketball. get use to it if people out there still havent already

anyway we can get in on KCP?

Report: Pistons might rescind qualifying offer to restricted free agent Kentavious Caldwell-Pope wp.me/p14QT0-3rfb

I think this kid is really to take the next step, and he's and excellent defender. Sure would be nice to balance out the roster with a little youth. It's basically just Capela right now; everyone else is on the older side. Think how much KCP could learn surrounded by our vet cast. Does anyone else really like this kid?

I agree. This is what people are not understanding.

We didn't just trade for CP3.

We traded for CP3 with $10M less in salary (huge because we anticipated being hard capped at the apron level this year), the ability to remain over the cap so we have access to the MLE and BAE, the ability to offer CP3 his super max deal (could argue this is a negative I suppose), opened up roster spots to buy NG'd contracts to use in trades, and the advantage of having CP3 on board early to sell to potential FAs.

So the trade really netted us CP3, PJ Tucker on what I think is a very fair contract, the ability to lock Zhou Qi up for 4 years instead of 2, a bunch of NG'd contracts to use as assets, the BAE we still have in our back pocket, and an extra $10M in space to add salary this season (aka we kept the door open to add Melo without trading away a 2nd rotation player besides Anderson if we can get the Knicks to agree).

It's a very advantageous trade for Houston.
