we have to do the trade for Melo because if he's bought out I think he will go to the Cavs instead of here.
The east is just that much easier and he can be an all star. Which is very important to him. It's also a sure ticket to the finals.

Wouldnt NY prefer to send Melo to us given the Cavs are in the same conference? Im sure they dont wanna see the Cavs destroy them in regular season every year

The upside of this is we may be able to trade for Love as they would essentially be vying for the same position. Love would also go very well in our system

yeah I don't see the Cavs trading LOVE for Melo when they can trade Frye.

Anderson and Love shot nearly identical inside 10 feet.

Anderson shot better (57%) inside 3 feet than Love did (56%).

So where are the people who told me Anderson's contract would be easy to move? Because right now it's holding up the Melo trade.

Melo is single. Houstob over Ckevekand is a no brainer

But we. Still have Rhyno's garbage contract....

if melo were to get bought out before this thursday then it would be in TOR's interest to agree to a S&T with us for tucker, in order to help us keep melo away from CLE with our non-taxpayer MLE

Probaly were mostly high at the time or underestimated how bad Ryno besides shooting the 3 ball and even that was poor in the playoffs

it's basically the usual two people. We could have Noah's contract and they would still be saying it's not that bad and we can trade him for free.

Melo kinda has all the power with a no trade clause

Question is does Melo want to go be overshadowed by Lebron or does Melo want to built his brand back up and be part of a new big 3. If Melo wins a ring with us it's HIS ring, if he wins with the Cavs it's LEBRONs ring

How exactly is that keeping Melo away from Cleveland?
Cleveland can promise a sure fire trip to the finals, and being an all star. Just because we can offer him more money right after he got a fat buyout?

Is Melo training for D'Antoni's offense?

    http://nypost.com/2017/07/03/is-melo-training-for-dantonis-offense/

A video surfaced Sunday of Carmelo Anthony doing wind sprints and slides on a New York soccer field at 2:45 a.m. He may be getting in shape for Mike D’Antoni’s speedball offense in Houston.

According to a source, the Knicks have told some agents their free-agent plans are being held up in some respects as they weigh a decision on whether to trade Carmelo Anthony, possibly to the Rockets.

Another reported late Sunday stated Anthony is definitely willing to play in Houston and join his buddy Chris Paul, who was traded there last week. That followed a report D’Antoni and Anthony would be on board if a trade went through despite their conflicts in New York that led to the coach’s departure in 2011.

Ironically, his estranged wife La La went on TV last week and said Anthony’s aim is to play close to New York to be close to her 10-year-old son.
“He’s focused,’’ a source said of his recent workout habits.

As The Post first reported last week, the Knicks told the Rockets they are on hold with an Anthony deal until a new president is found. However, that can take weeks and GM Steve Mills is being considered for the presidency job and is acting prez now.

The Rockets have made outside-shooting forward Ryan Anderson the centerpiece of the deal but he has three years and $61 million left on his pact. The Knicks are trying to take short-term deals in a package, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Boston and Cleveland could jump into the Anthony fray after missing on Paul George. The Celtics, who have tons of assets, could be desperate if they don’t land Gordon Hayward. The Post reported in April the Celtics coaching staff was in on trading for Anthony at last season’s trade deadline, but GM Danny Ainge didn’t want to blow his cap space.

Former Cavaliers general manager David Griffin reportedly had a phone interview with the Knicks, but a face-to-face meeting won’t occur for a couple of weeks. Mills has dodged the media at the Orlando summer league.

we don't know what's in his head as far as pros and cons for either destination. and him making the all-star team even in the depleted east is still a longshot. i'm just saying if his agent were to give the go-ahead for HOU based on a few million dollars more, then TOR should be happy to work with us

Tell that to all the ring chasers out there inc DWest, DWill and on. (LBJ get a ring in June BTW?) And on. Robert Horry, love the guy yes but HoF worthy w/all his rings? He earned the gold as a support player (who never showed up before May 1 anyway). Melo needs to do what Melo needs to do.

Oh if he is in the East unless he gets injured, it's not a long shot at all to be an all star. He made it last year, and then there was Butler Milsap and George still there. There just aren't enough good forwards left. Who 3 players are going to go over Melo? Crowder?? Otto Porter?

As for pros and cons, we definitely do know that a ring is a pro, and being an all star too , since he cares too much about that stuff.

IMO If we don't trade for Melo we won't get him.

Please Morey, don't trade Gordon or Capela. I'm not really sure Carmelo is much of an upgrade to what we already have on our roster other than his superstar history. Moving forward is he really that much of an upgrade on the court?
