He heard nothing, he's acting like the sky is falling on July 2nd, four months until the season starts. All the while our favorite team has 2 top 10 players for the first time in over a decade. Not to mention the fact that we have one of the best GMs in any sport.
I like the pickup. He'll give us a lot of what we are losing in Bev (hustle, wing defense, 3 and D, grit) -- plus he's a good rebounder, which will help a lot in small ball lineups. I've long thought this guy was like Mario Elie 2.0, and it is nice to have a Longhorn on the team! Hook 'em.
I'm just guessing. I know Moreys star chasing ass is probably doing whatever he can to get Melo here. Based off his interviews Morey knows after Kevin Durant going to GS puts us in a go big or go home situation
Lot's of people confirming that this doesn't eliminate the opportunity to sign Nene. Nene can sign for the non-Bird rights deal (3 / 10.9M) or Morey can package the NGEs in a S&T with Toronto to maintain the MLE. Signing Tucker doesn't preclude signing Nene. Also, if Nene is interested in winning (which is likely given that he already agreed to a contract both last year and this year that are bargains relative to what he could have gotten elsewhere) signing PJ improves the team's chances of winning and likely increases Nene's interest in staying here.
Agreed. Assuming CP3, Harden and Gordon get 95% of the minutes at PG / SG, does anyone have a better back court than the Rox? Trading Gordon would have to be for a really big name.
There are too many posters with tunnel vision that won't understand what you just posted. There is absolutely no way Gordon, our best 3 point shooter, will be traded unless it's for an All-Star. He's too valuable to the system here and too cheap to be traded for any player that can't come in and make us immediate contenders against gsw
The age thing on Tucker is my biggest concern. Clearly, We're looking at the next 3 or 4 years with presumably Harden and Paul as put up or shut up time -- in 4 years our window with anything looking remotely close like today is probably shutting anyway, and you're looking at some sort of a rebuild/retooling. I was trying to think of other Tucker comps, and one that came to mind is Matt Barnes. Granted, that guy is terrible (though he hates Derek Fisher... so maybe not all bad?), but he's a similar defensive first mindset predicated on bodying up his man. In fact, coming out of his age 31 season, he had only 1 season of averaging greater than 10 ppg (10.2 at age 28). He then proceeded to put up 3 of 4 seasons with 10+ ppg (the 4th just missed with 9.9), and averaged 25-30 minutes a game. He didn't really show much signs of drop off till this the past couple of seasons. I think the goal here is to be able to dial back Ariza's minutes. We've played Ariza 35 mpg out of necessity. I think dialing him back to 30 minutes a game will make him a more effective player, and unlike Toronto, we're not relying on Tucker for 30+ mpg.
man, we got dudes that players around the league would love to play with CP3, Harden, and Ariza...can't forget D'antoni either somehow Bobby Brown is good friends with a lot of NBA players lol let me find out Bobby Brown hangs out with Lebron on the weekends
Been 14 hours since the PJ Tucker signing report. Why hasn't Maori done anything yet? He's wasting what little is left of CP and PJ's prime!
