I think people sleep on Love he was a great player before going to Cleveland (putting up like 20 and 20 regularly) and I think he still is a great player that has settled into a role and could at any moment be unleashed. he was the Cavs second best player for most of the Finals this year. There are injury concerns but he would be a steal... Melo I would take in a heartbeat still but a lot of what he has done in His career is empty and meaningless scoring which I'm not sure we need given the talent we have. Where as rebounding was real issue in the playoffs for us last year and Love is one of the absolute best in the game.
I've been saying this for at least 7 years on this site, but I'll repeat it again. I'll never understand this site's fascination with Kevin Love. The guy ****ing sucks. He was a loser in Minnesota. Went to Cleveland and did nothing. Then he got carried by LeBron to a championship. After at he promtly went back to doing nothing.
Insulting to say Love and Anderson are close. Anderson has never had a game where he rebounded or passed half as good as Love.
Yeah, I'm sure you and Pat are extremely close. Quit disgracing one of best rockets we have had in a very, very long time and conduct yourself with some damn respect and humility. Anyway, if you feel so strongly about a particular player's effectiveness on our team and how much his abilities would absolutely outclass another's, perhaps taking a different approach in explaining your case would be more effective? You would most likely find far more people receptive to your "feedback." I don't know, maybe you could try to construct full sentences that represent semi-coherent thoughts? Also, you could try to throw out some statistical analysis backing up your claims, or maybe even some pros for your favored player against a specific opponent/match-up. You could also make an argument centered around your favored player's particular fit with our current personnel, and the strength of the line-ups our team can run after adding this player to our current roster. Then, after presenting your case, you could probably have an actual conversation with people you disagree with. You could start a dialogue with people that have a differing view-point than you, and you might have an opportunity to process new information that maybe you weren't aware of. And, who knows, if you're receptive, perhaps you could be presented with enough data to have a slight loosening of your own hardened stance. Anything is possible. Or hey, you can just call anyone who disagrees with you a ****ing idiot a bunch of times too. That's always constructive and just downright charming, right? People are already worried about two ball-dominant point guards being able to share the ball effectively, and it will no doubt take a little bit of time to iron-out the kinks. I have faith in D'Antoni and in the I.Q. of James and CP3 to make this work, but we also have absolutely no idea of how smooth this transition will be, or exactly how long this process could take. Forum members that prefer Love to Melo are most likely eyeing Kevin's time in Cleveland as direct evidence as to how he would fit into our offensive scheme here in Houston. He takes over the Ryno role for the most part, except you mostly park him in the corner and throw him the occasional entry-pass to the post. He hustles on the glass and makes some excellent outlet passes down court. Melo is supremely talented but has not been playing winning basketball for quite a long while at this point. I'd love to believe that we would get Team USA and FIBA Melo immediately upon arrival, but nobody truly knows how he would accept being third fiddle to Harden and Paul. It's a small sample size to draw big conclusions from, in my opinion. All things being equal.... if I could one hundred percent count on Melo accepting a lesser role and completely buying-in on being an unselfish team-player (something Kevin Love has already proven he is very capable of doing), I would probably lean more towards Melo. However, for now, I'm kind of leaning towards Love as being the more acceptable fit. I just personally feel Melo is so far removed from playing with one teammate more talented than him, let alone two, that I would have major concerns about his willingness to seamlessly accept a lesser-role. Three ball-dominant players all having to drastically change their games while deferring to one another is quite the chore I'd wager. But, you see, what I'm not going to do, is state that anyone that disagrees with me on this position that I have taken here, has absolutely no idea what they are talking about. I'm also not going to proceed to type a bunch of useless, misspelled nonsense, littered with unnecessary profanity, all while having the gall to actually insult someone else's intelligence without a hint of irony. I'll leave that to you.
Love is younger, but I think its melo. Melo has the ability to create his own shot one on one, which is needed in the playoffs against great defense. The more guys you have with that ability the better. love is a great player though, and a huge upgrade over andersen....
Can we realistically get either one? After tucker and maybe nene do we have the missing pieces? I know Anderson and Gordon work salary wise, but would they be enough? I would prefer love because he is a more natural complimentary player as a 3 and rebounds guy. But I would be fine with any other big name like Melo, Love, Ibaka or Millsap.
Love is the better fit by a mile. He is also the best long-term signing thanks to his age and length of contract. Melo is indeed intriguing, as he can take over offensively more than Love can. He has the biggest upside in the short-term, but for that to happen, he would need to improve his conditioning, roll back the years in a sense. Is that a realistic expectation, or will we get old, lazy, fat inefficient Melo? Love just seems the safest bet.
Love is the better fit and as a stretch 4/5 is more unique. If we covet a scoring 3/4 we can always try to acquire a Harris/Gay/Gallo/Morris type (just to name a couple examples - those type of scorers are always available). But for a big man with Love's range and passing, he's the more unique talent and thus the player we should target if you had to pick between the two. That said, I'm fine with Melo. Think it's a worthwhile gamble.
Melo... He brings swag, massive scoring punch, and he will have motivation to play here with his buddy CP3. Plus contract is shorter. I dont know though, do you make Melo opt in to the last year of his deal? kind of complicated if you want the banana boat to assemble here.
QUOTE="Snow Villiers, post: 11176993, member: 59836"]So it MAY come down to one of these two jokers. Who y'all want to run with?[/QUOTE] I'm curios where is the Love thing coming from? because i have not seen love linked to us at all
Love actually played good D last year and the year before. Melo has never played good D. That said I'm ready to go to battle with either of them.
This. Simply put, with Paul being friends with Melo, Bron, Wade, you go with Melo hands down. The goals is to put yourself in position to be ready to assemble that team here if the opportunity arises. The more of the pieces we have here, the better.
