I'm actually really torn on this. I think Love is the better overall player today than Melo and the better fit in terms of what the Rockets need at the 4. But I think Melo might be the guy that helps them compete more in the playoffs, as he'd give them a third legit go-to offensive threat, which Love simply is not anymore. I also like that Melo's deal is up at the end of the year (he'll likely opt out), and he's going to be a much bigger help in terms of recruitment than Love. They bring different things to the table, but gun to my head, I narrowly take Melo.
Melo. At least he can guard Draymond when playing the Warriors. Kevin Love lacks the quickness to guard anyone on Golden State other than Zaza or West, which relegates him to a 20 minute a game guy versus the Warriors.
If it's between those 2, I'd easily go with Love. Better rebounder, less porous defensively, much better passer, better 3pt shooter. Already has the experience of winning, already knows the feeling of playing with 2 ball dominant perimeter players. Seems to be more interested in keeping healthy, in shape. Those things combined far outweigh Melo's superior scoring talent. But you have to remember, when Love played on a garbage team, he could also score 25 inefficiently.
My choice would be LOVE, but it's close only because Love is a better and willing rebounder Cleveland Neutered him, he became just a spot up shooter there. Harden would give him all the post touches he could handle. I mean, Harden trusted DMO on the block because he knew he could make something happen. Love is much better than DMO on the block. He might not be able to guard anyone laterally, but that's why Morey is building a team full of bull dogs.
The only thing that makes me question Melo is that he has already failed in a D'Antoni offense. With Love, you get a great passer who has proven he can be a great scorer and elite rebounder. So we've seen his ceiling is far higher than what we have now at PF. With Melo, I'm not sure what the hell I'm going to get.
I'm not sure what makes everyone so sure we can get our hands on K. Love but either would be great. Don't be down on Melo. This would be such a great situation for him. He has one of the cleanest jump shots in the league and would get so many good looks on this team he would be lethal.
A lot of guys are better than Dmo on the block ( I meant also defensively) Domo is pretty good offensively.
I can't decide easily, but if I had to pick one I would go with Carmelo because Chris Paul wants him. If this team gets Paul Millsap I think we are set to go to war with the Warriors.
Anyone who picks Love is a STRAIGHT ****ing dumb **** Love is literally ****ing Anderson 2.0 Carmelo had a chance of being a offensive scoring machine Love is literally a piece of ****ing **** who can only shoot threes If you think allowing Melo to go to cavs to allow us to get Love is a good idea you are a ****ING dumbass Without Melo we won't win ****, but half of clutchfans is satisfied with a role player team so it doesn't matter it's accepted
Love's a better fit... for the regular season. Melo's a better fit... for the post-season. Way more upside and "risk profile" if you want to call it that.
Short on memory. Love sacrificed his game to play next to Lebron to win. We are going to ask Carmelo to change his game from prolific black-hole to a small-ball 4 that passes and occasionally rebounds just because CP3? It can happen, but Love, I assume, can make the transition back to where he once was in Minny.
