Are you satisfied with Van Gundy so far?

I like Rudy T and all, but I didn't feel he was the right guy for the current team. Maybe they would've made it to the playoffs with him last year had he not left to the hospital, but in the long term, I am actually glad that Van Gundy has taken over ( and of course, Rudy's health recovered ). Van Gundy has changed the mentality of this team, and I thought this was what the Rockets really needed in change over all the new uniforms, new arena, etc.

It's that preparation they make in every game. That focus and that lack of lapsing which I see in the Van Gundy era which has, so far, not been evident in the first six regular games. I know it's early, but if this is a sign it's a good one, because even in the champion years, the Rockets, under Rudy, would sometimes slip a game or two to bad teams. Or if they won, they'd be close wins in games where the Rockets should've clearly won more.

My question in this topic is, are you satisfied with Van Gundy so far? Do you think he is the right coach of this team so far? Does the results reflect Van Gundy's coaching style?

***Please keep the flames and name-calling to a minimal. Let's keep this civilized and not act like Laker fans. Thank you.***

You know, if it isn't obvious, I'm trying to make peace here so I'd appreciate some intelligent replies every now and then other then the " Who the hell is RiceDaddy " and " Go to hell " replies.

Anyone administrates this board? They're doing a poor job.

The only thing that I don't understand, RD7, is that why after posting so many posts, you still ony have 67 under your name?

That's 67 posts in 3 hours ( give or take the time I was posting ) I was here. That's a lot. Can we stick to the topic or is this going to be a RiceDaddy bashing thread.

I'm not trying to bash you, man. You said some crazy stuff in your posts, but I didn't see you use profane language or curse anybody or anything like that.

Just thought that you should've posted over 500 already. I have the impression because of the way you've posted.

I don't think it crazy except maybe the Utah part.

Eddie Griffin being traded is pretty normal conversation as a Rockets fan. It's not like I'm saying Yao should be traded. Now that's crazy. And saying Shaq is better then Yao? It's not like I'm saying Brad Miller is better then Yao.

For someone who's only been here 3 hours, you're sure acting like you own the place. Careful, I'm sure some people don't appreciate the tone you're using, intentional or not, even though you say you're trying to make peace.

Yes, I am satisfied with JVG so far.

No, I think you guys need to chill out.

The first time I posted here all I got was flamed, then I got flamed some more, then I got flamed some more. How am I supposed to post? I am being rational and here I am finding myself being defensive over the smallest things because we can't sit here and not call each other names.

I don't think I act like I'm owning this place. I would just like for people who disagree to not tell me to go to hell ( or the equvilant: A Lakers board ). I think people seem to feel threatened because someone is opinionated and they don't heed to the masses. There's no reason to flame someone just because they posted near 70 posts in 3 hours. Give me a justification in that.

Lastly, thanks for replying to the issue.

ALL THOUGH YOU ARE NEW. you can always scrolll back and check out the old posts, eventhough the search function is disabled you can still check out the old threads. Im fairly new, and i dont think i have started 3 threads in a week, let alone a day... many of your threads have been heatedly discussed before... So chill out a little... ( im the last person to be saying this, but i posted mostly on D&D, till the season started)

No problem. Like I said, I'm satisfied with JVG so far. He's definitely more approriate for this young undiscplined team than Rudy was. Also, we now have a big man focused offense, and JVG definitely has experience there.

However, today we are seeing that in all of JVG's meticulous preparation, he was not prepared for Dallas' defense tonight. We can't buy a bucket/layup vs. their zone, and we're running around taking long range jumpshots like headless chickens in a pressure cooker. I think today he showed some of his shortcomings. He needs to come up with a better solution to playing against the zone (or at least Dallas' zone).

As for getting flamed because you posted 70 posts in 3 hours. Most people here are sick of hearing the same old topics again and again (e.g. JVG's coaching, EddieGriffin being traded, etc.), especially since everyday we see a new thread being created on these same topics being repeated ad naseum. But you're new here, so it's not your fault. And most people don't really like newbies starting multiple threads (i.e. djunior - who started a billion threads a day, mostly discussing frivolous or r****ded things that really irked people), especially if the topic has been covered before. Not to say your topics are idiotic, just been done before...many many times.

    But welcome anyway, RiceDaddy.

yep he's doing a good job, I don't think you can really expect the team to change overnight. I mean mentally they are starting to talk differently and probably understand a few of the fundamentals he is trying to teach, but I think it will take months before it all starts to really fall into place and we can erally cahllenge these top teams

70 posts in three hours? Sorry, you could be the most educated dispenser of internet interplay and I'd still recommend getting a life, or a therapist...

Hey why don't you shut the hell up and stick to the topic. I don't even know you, but you have a problem with me because I don't follow your ideal example of a poster. You and all your buddies who seem to ignore the topic and flame me need to chill. I've never seen such an anal group of people in my life...and in a Rockets board for God's sake.

People are trying to give you good advice on not clogging up the front page of the GARM.

You are not going to last long with that attitude.
