    Who cares what Tolbert says?

He has basketball knowledge and he has a platform to speak his mind. Nothing more, nothing less. I agree with him quite frequently and I anticipate a lot of the so-called experts will be jumping on the bandwagon if we perfom during the long road trip. We will start getting respect when we BEAT the BIG BOYS in the league.

    I don't get it.

Tom Tolbert was a crappy basketball player, and he's a crappy commentator.

Usually, if a crappy commentator is still around, it's because he was an awesome basketball player, and therefore a legacy and hall of famer or future hall of famer--and the latter makes them overlook their poor performance as sports commentators. Or if they suck as commentators, they have a really entertaining repoirte (i.e. Tom Arnold).

I have no idea why Tolbert is still around. He's not even good looking, and probably the only NBA player who could rejected by a groupie. And his big, bald head looks like a stale mothball.

Like everyone else, I'm annoyed by Tolbert the Tool. I do have a bit of insight, though, how he got his job.

I used to live out in San Francisco. This was four or five years ago. Tolbert had this AM sports radio show. Local, broadcasted only in the Bay Area. Small-time stuff. Anyways, the man was HILARIOUS. Best radio show I've heard, and I grew up in Houston with Charlie Pillelo (sp?) and all. The NBA must have saw his shtick and thought it could translate to commentating.

It doesn't. What a HOOORRRRRIBBBLLE mistake. (To use Walton-speak). Kind of taking a popular radio DJ and making him the PA guy at a brand new arena. Good idea on paper, bad idea in execution.

    Tom and Nick, kindred spirits.
