We're more attractive than having two of the best shooters in the world? We're more attractive than having the DPoY on your team? We're more attractive than the best bench in the NBA? We're more attractive than all of the above PLUS a great front office and a team that JUST dominated their way through the entire NBA en route to a championship? OP, pls. Until GSW loses in the playoffs, they are the team to beat.
Well...it'd be KD's chance to show the world that Westbrick was the real problem and reason why the Sonics, I mean, Thunder, couldn't win the 'chip. Plus there is a nice ring to winning the 'chip with x-different teams, which would kind of instantly elevate him to the status of LBJ (esp. if he beats LBJ twice in the finals with 2 different teams) (and potentially joining LBJ and Kareem as the only players to win FMVP with different teams). Just a thought (dream).
Just so we are clear - the only reason Durant said that was to help the Warriors for cap reasons because his current cap hold is lower than what it will be after he signs his new deal. This is meant to be a way to squeeze a few more bucks into recruiting role players like recently rumored Zach Randolph and Vince Carter. The CBA will allow them to go over cap to retain their own player(ironically a rule meant to keep players like Durant in OKC), but there are more limitations on a team once they go over the threshold. So since Durant will get a HUGE contract, you want to sign him last so the team isn't penalized with restricted use of exceptions until after they have already filled out the roster with their role players.
He didn't say we would be more attractive than Golden State, just that we are (or at least should be) all of a sudden a lot more attractive to free agents that are looking to join a competitor. Sure we are not getting Durant. But that is a valid point and a good hope for any other free agents that we do pursue.
According to many people, KD's legacy was already on the fall when he joined GSW. If he jumps from super team to super team, I can't imagine that will bring his legacy back up. I mean, as a Rockets fan, I would love KD. Who wouldn't?
Naw bro, when LBJ jumped the second time, the narrative went from he joins super teams to he IS super teams.
