...we don't have to put up with crap like this: Kings' Williams accused of making racial slurs March 16, 2001 SportsLine.com wire reports OAKLAND, Calif. -- A Golden State Warriors fan has accused Sacramento Kings guard Jason Williams of yelling slurs about Asians and gays at a game Feb. 28. According to a letter sent to NBA commissioner David Stern by Warriors season ticket-holder Michael Ching, Williams made the comments to jeering fans while sitting on the Kings' bench. The letter claimed that Williams directed the slurs toward two Asian men and a white man sitting with a Vietnamese woman. Using an expletive, he said, "Do you remember the Vietnam War? I'll kill y'all just like that," according to the letter, parts of which appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle and Oakland Tribune. The letter also said Williams pretended to shoot a machine gun at the fans. Sacramento beat Golden State 122-101. Two weeks later, Williams was fined $15,000 for "directing profanity toward fans" in a conversation with fans near the Kings' bench. When the fans spoke to Warriors officials, they were encouraged to send a letter to the NBA voicing their concern, a team spokesman said. NBA spokesman Brian McIntyre did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment. The letter, dated March 1, also was addressed to Warriors owner Chris Cohan, general manager Garry St. Jean and vice president of business operations Robert Rowell; Kings owners Joe and Gavin Maloof; and NBA deputy commissioner Russ Granik. "People say all types of things to me, curse words, talk about weed, everything," Williams said when the fine was announced. "They can get personal with me, but I can't get personal with them, I guess. Hopefully, I'll learn my lesson one of these times." Williams was suspended for the first five games of the season after violating the league's substance abuse policy. He also was fined $10,000 for comments to fans after the Kings' 82-79 loss at San Antonio on Nov. 29. A Kings spokesman said the team would make no immediate comment, although Kings owner Joe Maloof called Ching on Monday to apologize and invite him to a future game in Sacramento. The Kings played at Philadelphia on Friday night. Williams is averaging 9.8 points and 5.4 assists per game as the Kings' starting point guard. ------------------ I voted YES!

JW is so refined and cultured, I would have never pegged him to shout racial slurs. BTW, I'm Asian, and if JW had said that to me, I'd kick his @$$. He may be bigger than me, but I'd put up a good fight. Cuttino has the same b-day as me, only he's a couple years older. I feel like crap criticizing him. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around."
