If you meant the past 100 years, yes, you are right. But I do not quite agree with you if you were referring to the future. I am pretty sure that, in the next 10 to 20 years, there will be a few others from China who will be just as good as Yao if not better. I read the article in the Times magazine about a 15 year old basketball player names Yi, Jianlian. This dude was 6'11 a little over a year ago and improved in big leaps in the Chinese professional leagure. A lot of scouts said that he would be a lottery pick in a couple of years. I just read it somewhere recently, he is 16 now and 2.13 meters tall. (2.13m = 7'). He runs the floor much better than Yao. His best position so far is PF.

That article also mentioned a 6'2 14 year old guard who could jump out of the building. The article predicted that this guy would be China's starting PG in 2008.

I had hoped to see both of them play here in California when I heard that an Olympic Hope Team came here for some games. But both of these two did not come because they were playing in adult teams at the Chinese City games. However, that Olympic Hope Team had quite a few good prospects. Here is th elist of players that came to California:

    # Name Ht. Position/Age
    5 Xie Libin 6'3" Guard 15
    12 Zheng Bo 6'3" Guard 15
    11 Lu Wei 6'4" Point Guard 15
    10 Wang Zhanyu 6'5" Guard 17
    13 Guan Le 6'5" Guard 15
    14 Liu Mingtau 6'5" Forward 15
    15 Sui Xaiolong 6'6" Forward 17
    20 Guo Ye 6'6" Forward/Center 15
    21 Yu Liang 6'7" Forward 15
    22 Ma Liang 6'8" Center 15
    23 Deng Li 6'8" Forward 15
    24 Zhao Hang 7'0" Center 14
    25 Mo Guochao 7'1" Center 15
    30 Liu Junshan 7'1" Center 15
    32 Sun Mingming 7'6" Center 17

    This topic is getting old.

The matter of fact is that Rockets signed the agreement to allow him to go back in summers.

About the compensation issue, my question is:

"Will Rockets and NBA allow Stevie the Franchise to be transfered to a European team for a fee not exceeding $300,000?"

so he can get away from jerks like you...

It's just amazes me how people opened their big month without knowing what they are talking about. To Yao, and most people outside this country, play for their own country is much more important than play in the NBA.
