Rockets were always fool's gold, but I hear you. Cubs were even worse losing 9 of 10. "I" is the only thing stopping the 2017 Astros
They had a real rough 3 week stretch during the dog days of summer. Going 1-3 isn't the best of stretches, but over the last 10 only the Mariners have played better ball. We haven't lost any ground to the other winning clubs. Musgrave and Keuchel should be back next week, Morton likely the week after that. We can and should be able to ride out a few more pen/AAA starts before everything is right.
We're down 4 starting pitchers. That's crazy. Our offense is great but realistically we're going to need to get some guys back to maintain the winning percentage we had going. You can't plug and play and expect the same results. Astros will be fine.
Yep 20-11, that's trash A .645 winning percentage, pure trash On pace to go 52-29 at home, trash Heck, 4 other teams in mlb have better home records, Baltimore and the yanks are both a full game better than us at home, trash Great post man, you summed it all up there buddy
Martes' stuff is as advertised. Fastball was 92-97mph and was sitting 94-96 most of his outing. That breaking ball was filthy. 82-85mph with sharp tilt and good depth. Was impressed with the changeup as well. Keep in mind this is still a 21 year old kid. Guys who come up and dominate at that age are rare. Lance is an outlier, raised by an MLB dad and groomed for this while Martes has had to learn at a different pace. Give him some time around the vets and coaches and I'm sure he'll develop, although it may not be as quickly as we hope. At least he's shown he can throw strikes, he just needs to learn to be more consistent with his command, which unfortunately is usually the last thing to develop and is what separates the prospects and the true phenoms. He's realistically at least a year from truly being ready to step in the rotation but at least the stuff is as advertised.
Lets not forget that there were good arguments for getting another starter when all our SP's were healthy for a playoff run. So in my mind, its not even a question to whether we make a trade. The question(s) are, how many and who.
after further review, I blame the open roof. Condensation was happening in peacock's hands, causing a slippage that led to him being all over the place. Houston ain't in the open the roof in June business. It's not nantucket, 68 degrees when the sun sets. Keep it closed.
Come trading deadline, every team knows what the Astros need. I was thinking how Mark Appel, or Josh Hader would have done. Hopefully, we get back to not playing in blowout games. Not many teams will win games that opponents score 7 to 9 runs.
The more Martes plays, the more screwed this team will be during trade deadline. Say goodbye to Kyle Tucker.
110%. Fiers, Musgrove, Morton. 2 of those 3 if everything goes well shouldn't be in the rotation come August.
Fiers has good stuff today. He had good command and a nary off speed pitch in the 1st. Let's hope this bodes well.
