Netflix bills it as a dark comedy. Brad Pitt at times is hilarious doing a not too disguised depicture of a recent US commander in our Afghan War. Well worth a view. It has much worthwhile to say about our war there.

Hollywood produced the picture, but it was not shown in theaters.

Netflix outbid the competition for distribution -- $60 million.

I thought it was, "meh." Sand Castle is a much better flick.

I appreciated the black humor of Brad Pitt strutting around as McChrystal. I still remember the buildup as he was such a macho man who ate one meal a day and would therefore make those Afghans behave. Also I thought it was hysterical at the end when the next tough acting strutting general appears to take charge. They always look so theatrically cocksure that I am sure that Hollywood took note.

I will have to check out Sand Castle. .

They captured the absurdity of it all pretty well, just like Tina Fey's WTF movie and Wardogs - but to me, that didn't really make for a great movie overall. It is worth a watch, Just not a movie I'd ever think to revisit... which is rare for me with war movies.
