    The solution is:

    1. get rid of the draft
    2. get rid of the salary cap (teams have double the salary of other teams, if they want)
    3. get rid of contract restrictions (a player can be signed for 10 years, if a team want to do it)

    4. have a blind auction for players to highest bidder.

If a team wants to blow 32 million a year on Lonzo Ball for 9 years, let them. It's the idea that we are going to let owners implode.

Not having a draft has other benefits as well. Teams can actually cherry pick players that fit their style. One of the big problems with the draft is that there might be a perfect player for your system, but you never get to draft him because you have to pick in order of win loss record. In this scenario, teams can build a strategy more effectively to combat super teams more than before.

This also addresses tanking and it even addresses college kids that want to 1 and done. Because after they see how maybe 15 players get big deals and the rest get minimum contracts, they will be incentivized to stay in school.

If a team doesn't want to participate in draft they can save their money for free agency.

I believe ultimately that this is the best system that the nba could go to. Mainly because if you try to create rules to defeat super teams, it just creates a math problem to be solved and then exploited.

This way, the teams that can evaluate talent and be responsible will have a chance regardless of market against the lebrons of the world.

One issue, aside from the NBA talent likening this directly to slavery, what about player choice? I mean, if a guy doesn't want to play in Toronto because he hates the mounties, that should be his choice shouldn't it?

    Not really.

But I did think about this. If a college player with eligibility left doesn't get a bid, he can go back to college. He can do this once.

I think that if you make yourself eligible for the auction, then you have to be willing to play for anybody.

I would love this. Good luck with the NCAA approving it.

I dont understand the concept of Blind Auction, how can a team bid 100M for Lorenzo Ball if they don't know it is him? Also the whole reason for the salary cap is to ensure parity, Cuban is a multi-billionaire (probably almost trillionaire by now since these guys' fortunes expands exponentially) he can easily afford a payroll thats 2-5x more than the rest of the league what if he just offers 50M each to Anthony Davis, Blake Griffin, Harden, Wall etc. for the next 10 years? This is why Celtics vs Lakers 2.0 happened, they just paid the tax and fielded a payroll 2x bigger than the cap because both teams could afford it with their fanbase and ticket sales.

Blind bids, doesn't mean unknown players. It means you don't know what other teams bid for the player you are biding on so you have to make a bid that is high enough to win, if you are bidding on Ball, it has to be better than what other teams bid on him: ie blind bid. Your best offer first.

Also, you know what Harden is TODAY, but are you willing to gamble 50 million on an unproven rookie? Also, even Cuban isn't dumb enough to pay 2.5 billion dollars to 5 players, even if it was known.

The idea is that sure you can build a super team, but you might also be saddled with 250 million dollar Greg Oden, or Nerlens Noel.

Not only that, but other teams might get Klay Thompson for 30 million for 6 years, a bargin. The point being, now teams that have better front offices and do it better can beat a super team at their own game.

A real solution actually have chance of actually being approved by the players and teams in the NBA. If we're going for something so unrealistic, might as well just have a centralized committee handi-capping and adjusting teams' rosters each season to assure maximum parity.

Also, how does this ensure parity? Wouldn't it just create a more extreme version of the Soccer Leagues where only a few team (with deep pockets) dominate?

Well now teams won't tank but what about the teams who actually just suck and need help?

you took this idea from one of my posts in another one of your threads on this subject,.and just added "no salary cap" whatsoever onto it.

Why did you feel the need to create a new thread about this, since we were already discussing parity and a Draft with blind auctions. btw: my idea is to cap spending on those bids to your something akin to your current allotted rookie scale exception, plus any actual cap room you have. I would have some type of bidding power according to draft position scaled to who has the most balls in the previous method, and allow caproom above that.

Why'd you take that discussion into another thread of yours. Or did you forget about your previous thread and that I laid out a blind auction lottery.

anyhoot: this is your fourth thread on parity. Please don't create another one. We lose our discussion threads and have to restart like I just did discussing my draft with auction. btw: I proposed this two years ago, as well.

Your idea wouldn't work. Capping bids, would result in the same situation as we have now.

Also, this is not YOUR idea. It was discussed throughout the league last year and the year before as a way to counteract tanking, or did you forget about that?

The key to my idea is no salary cap and no rules to contracts. Some players wouldn't even get bids, in my version.

One of the biggest problems with super teams is free agency, it comes way too soon. It takes a player about 7 years to be championship ready. My version you can avoid that.

But again, I'm sorry if you are annoyed with my threads on this. But I am really trying to figure this out and I do believe that my system in this thread is better than the current system in the nba.

Also, your version promotes tanking and it is unnecessary. You don't need all of it. Just give teams the ability to get on an equal footing with super teams, and this does that.

Why did you start a new thread? There was a discussion about this in one of your other parity threads.

It really sucks that you can't contain your discussions in one thread. Or is that your actual debating style and you put out trial-balloon threads to improve upon your original arguments,,,,then abandon one thread to start new ones on the same subject but using the Best-of ideas from others.

That must be it, because no one starts this many threads on "I have a solution" on same subject in such a short amount of time.

If you actually want to talk about my auction lottery (with the salary cap still status quo) vs your no cap world auction, then I ask that you go back to your original thread on this where the discussion started....so we don't have to repeat ourselves.

Why not extend max contract lengths rather than eliminate the salary cap? If you take away the salary cap, NY and LA teams will be in the Finals for the next 20 years

And this comment was also made in your first thread @what that you started ~two weeks ago.

I'd like to chat with Jayzers on this, but I feel you'll just start yet another thread on parity and why restart what was already said in your first thread, anyhow.

Do you get it, @what . Just bump your first thread (paste in the OP of this thread) so we can remember everyone's takes on this, and not have to rehash things.

The only way teams won't tank would be to have the last 3 teams relegated to Division 2 like in Europe. Let the 3 last team in the league go to the D-League and see if teams will still ''trust the process''. (btw I know it will never happen here)

Not really, you are bidding on players that are unknown. Everybody has a threshold, money-wise. The other thing is that the way that I am doing it, you at least give teams a fighting chance, because if you want 3 high level rookies in one year, but not LeBron level, you can get them.

Also with this, it is less likely that you can pair LeBron up with 2 other allstars. The biggest problem really isn't the salary cap, it is more a timing issue.

If you draft LeBron, but you miss on other players, you can't go to free agency and get Kyrie and Love, in their prime. You'd have to get say Deangelo Williams, as a rookie.

When the Celtics created the big 3, it was a timing problem with the rest of the league, more than a trade problem. Coordinating 3 allstar level players to be on your team in their prime is much easier with the current free agency.

The reason I've started new threads is because the other ones weren't good. So I kept thinking about it. If I had started 3 threads that were the same thing but with one change I could see how that would be bad. This thread is completely a different take on it than the others have been. But you will be happy to know that I think I am done with them after this.

This version is the best version. And it can't be improved. So this will be my official take on the way to combat the super teams, and parity and not the others.

I prefer a simple hard cap.

You guys wanna get together and build a super team? Sure, why not? Everyone just take a massive pay cut.

I think the NBA structure is generally fine, they just didn't smooth out a large cap increase one year. If they did, we wouldn't be talking about this.
