This will hopefully result in only one missed start for Joe, but this only adds reason to believe that they will add a Cole/Gray/Archer at some point this season.

Prior to last year, he had never thrown more than 101 innings (across 5 seasons since being drafted). He threw 147 last year... but like Morton, I think we knew we couldn't count on 180+ IP from him. I guess Fiers isn't pitching for his spot tonight. We need Peacock to start figuring out the 5th inning, and better hope Paulino is ready.
I expect to see a lot of 10 day DL stints for our starting pitchers in which they only miss 1 or 2 starts with "discomfort or tightness"
So, this is what happens when Musgrove throws a good game? Ill take one good game and one game off if this the pattern for him. Gives us a chance to throw out out some young guns to see what they got. Why not give Devenski some spot starts in the future?
Not a big deal but we obviously need another starter. I have a hard time thinking that we wont have 1 by the trade deadline
I'd be surprised if the Morton/Musgrove DL stints were simply innings management; both guys were throwing well recently and it doesn't make a ton of sense to sideline them both at the same time. A run of Paulino-Peacock-Fiers could turn into some losing streaks pretty quick. That said, I predict Fiers will start pitching better.
Anyone who thinks that comment solely regards Musgrove's absence hasn't been paying attention for 60 years. I'll gladly eat crow.
From Hinch, Musgrove is not injured, but not 100% either. They are being over conservative as they know they need to rest him sometime during season. This is Musgrove's longest stretch of starts made in his career. Hinch also compared Musgrove's DL stint with Keuchel's.
