http://www.theverge.com/platform/am...obile-wireless-service-launch-details-pricing so basically it's an mnvo that piggybacks of the vzw network and xfinity's wifi hotspots. similar to project fi from google, but vzw instead of sprint and tmobile. $45 for folks that have the more expensive x1 tv plans. $65 for others. throttles after 20 gb instead of vzw's 22. only available for xfinity customers. pay per gb also available. not a bad deal considering vzw's own plans are quite a bit more expensive. i'll likely give it a go when it launches as it'll only cost me $45 bucks for a line. not seeing any of the cons that other mnvos out there have. another link: http://corporate.comcast.com/news-information/news-feed/comcast-xfinity-mobile
service launched today. not a bad deal IF you need a new phone. they're working on letting you bring your own device:
Seems like a poison pill to sign a contract or bundle so many services with one company, especially one as notoriously awful as Comcast.
samsung s7, s7 edge, s8, s8+ iphones 6, 6+, 7, 7+ lg xpower it can be seen that way, but bundling so many services seems convenient for me personally. half full... half empty... still waiting on brining my own phone though.
Not sure the last time you have dealt with them but I love my Xfinity service, and I was VERY leery switching from Uverse to Xfinity last year. I LOVE the voice command, they bumped my internet from 75 to 150 mbps for free and I'm contract free. I only sign one year deals. The one time I had to call for a DVR issue I actually spoke to someone in TEXAS on the line. Service guy showed up on time, no charge, fixed. Their features are now outstanding vs the other options out there and the platform blows every cable company out of the water. I used to loathe them as well. Now it would be very, very hard to switch to anything else. I'll be jumping on this phone deal too if they let you bring your own phone over. This would cut my bill in half.
yup. not everybody has bad experiences with xfinity. easy to hear the bad stuff as folks are more willing to complain online. sure i hate calling them with a passion... just as i hate calling customer serv for any company. more often than not it, just works for me. not everybody lives in the bay area or austin where there's a plethora of options. here in galveston it's either xfinity or uverse. 250mbps or 18mbps. the deal is a no-brainer for a lot of folks. for others, maybe not.
I've had comcast forever because of the internet. I have very rarely had to call customer service or had any issues. However moving and transferring services was an absolute **** show. Including sending a guy over who, by Comcast's own later admission, was too lazy to run a new line of cable to my house. He told me I would need to hire an outside contractor to run cable from the fence to the house. Lmao. I've also had multiple awful encounters with them on behalf of my mom. I've also had plenty of fine experiences with them, but there is definitely a reason they are consistently rated amongst the worst in customer service. Anyways, none of this would keep me from looking into their cell service if it was worth it.
Consumer Cellular had a plan for like $25 a month last time I checked, piggybacking off of AT&T or T-Mobile I believe. Not a high amount of data or frills, but it was good for my needs at the time. Small selection of phones and iffy customer service though. But you can't beat their price.
