I made an observation about this to a friend jokingly but I'm surprised the numbers actually back it up. Need to gameplan around these types of things going into next season: -Draw something up for Lou to get an easy shot when he first enters the game -Only allow Ryan to shoot corner 3's at home games to lessen the effect of his depth perception issues
It's important to build confidence early when you aren't comfortable with the players around you. It's hard to fit-in when you command the ball and impact the game offensively without training camp and/or time to gel. Good coaches tend to run plays for guys in that situation early-on to get them going. D'Antoni (not that he's a bad) just plugs Lou into the offense and crosses his fingers, because to MDA the offense as a whole is more important than the 1 piece. It'll be fun to see what Lou can do after a full training camp, assuming he's still around.
It is. All sports are to a large degree. Make an error in baseball and don't get over it? Your next at-bat, you're probably gonna screw up either feeling down or trying to make up for that error at the plate instead of just going up there and doing what you normally do. HOWEVER, this is the NBA. This is professional basketball. This is the pinnacle of professional basketball. Mentally-caused deficiencies need to be hammered out, by the players themselves and by the coaches and training staff, so that players aren't wrecked for a game because of one shot. Doesn't mean you have to be hard on them, but you can't allow your team to live and die by its emotions. It's just not allowable for this level of play and for these salaries.
That is why Harden babbled about 'Getting into a rhythm'. Clearly the shooters got more out of rhythm once they played Game 5 and Game 6. This is a concern.
If that makes the case as soon as he checks in run a simple play, get him open and with the shot he likes - set him up to get that under his belt.
