Melo would be a dope small ball 4, but that's about it. He'd be a better fit at the 4 than Ryan Anderson that's for sure. I don't know about y'all if but Houston got involved in a three-team trade where all we had to give up was Anderson and any of the young guys not including Dekker/Capela then I'd bite on it. Anderson is the better shooter obviously, but Melo's ability to put the ball down on the floor and/or create his own shot makes up for Anderson's better shooting and deeper threes. Melo and Anderson are about the same when it comes to rebounds and defense. Also, Melo would be in his last year of his contract because he can opt out next summer. If it doesn't work out then we don't resign him and now we have tons of cap space. Only thing is that it's not happening because Melo isn't gonna play for MDA again. It's not happening. So this thread should be locked then promptly deleted followed by the OP being sent to banishment.
Skill wise, Melo would fit perfectly at the 4. I think he shoots somewhere around 43 percent on catch and shoot 3's. That being said, Melo tries to do too much himself because he thinks he's on Lebron's level. However, if he plays like he does in the Olympics, he would totally give us a shot against the Cleveland and the Warriors.
They don't need someone to lead Harden, they need someone in that locker room to nut up and stand up to Harden, Nene was the only one that could get to him and you see once he was gone so was James' composure. If James pulls that game 6 **** with Carmelo on the roster he's liable to get slapped.
On the one hand you need talent "big 3" or "big 4" talent to even entertain the notion of toppling the Spurs, Warriors and Cavs (and to stay competitive in regular season with all the new/young talented teams trying to carve their niche). Carmelo could help us assemble that talent. However, if there is an issue b/t melo & MDA similar to Dwight Howard & SVG this won't work. On top of this, can he and harden coincide? We need Hayward, P. George, and Melo plus Harden and company to bring home a championship. That is a pipe dream.
Only if they'll take Corey Brewer in return... oh wait. Melo hates D'antoni, theres 0 chance he would waive his no-trade clause to come here.
and there's no evidence that Harden and Melo are close. Harden is going to have a major say, maybe not the last word, but if he's not enthusiastic, it won't happen.
D'antoni literally quit his job with the Knicks to get away from Melo. I'm not sure why this is even a discussion
Any star we get we have to move Ryan Anderson. So you have to think is melo worth more than Ryan? Talent wise yes. You can get Melo cheap. But u don't want a guy whose personality is similar to dwights. So that is why I'd say no. You need to get a star who doesn't care about their touches and would like to just play. Think Klay in golden state. I know he's not going anywhere but I'm using his personality as an example to who u need with harden. Someone who doesn't mind scoring 5 points but can score 30 if you need him to get it. I'd personally see if I can get Dangelo Russell. But personally the position we need to improve is SF (offensively) and if some PF depth maybe get speights to back up Anderson.
If we had 3 studs already, sure, add him for the vet minimum, but if he's not playing with great players, he's not effective. That sentence has so many commas.
I'd rather have a bag of bags playing the PF position than Ryan Anderson, so Carmelo would be golden for me, even if it's a stupid move.
