Harden should reach out to him and see about it.

I see Melo is the only possible star we could acquire because NY wants him gone.

Melo and MDA have publicly stated their disdain for each other. Mike did last month.

Melo is no longer a star .

He lacks any ability to play on both ends of the floor and he doesn't make his teammates better . His scoring doesn't make up for those deficiencies . Also he's on the wrong side of 30 .

His athleticism is declining and he doesn't have great size for the PF position .

At this point he's barely an upgrade over Ryan Anderson if you factor in the potential chemistry issues he brings into play .

Getting melo would be one of the worst moves the rockets could make .

Sure there is a chance melo is "revitalized" and magically gets in better shape and starts hustling , I just think the chances he continues to be apathetic are much higher.

I want to bring in winners , or at least players that show the heart . We can't improve our culture of we bring in primadonnas

Whenever I watch Melo, he doesn't strike me as a guy that doesn't play hard. He is consistently ferocious on the boards, and dominant in isolation. He might not be a superstar, but I think you are selling his skills and work ethic short. The guy lives in the gym, and on every Olympic team with other supporting talent, he has always impressed me.

I'm pretty neutral on landing Carmelo. It depends what the asking price is.

Could we even get him? Even with Dan-Tony as our HC? If so I probably pull the trigger because I just don't see us getting any thing close to another superstar and we need all the help we can get to compete past the first round. I would really do it if it got us out of the Anderson contract.

He could be bought out by the Knicks and then we have Josh Smith situation where he could potentially be had for a quarter on the dollar and we wouldn't have to match salaries.

Carmelo is not a 3 pt shooter and he would not want to stand in the corner waiting to shoot 3's. He does not fit Dantoni's system.

I wouldn't want Melo on the Rockets even if he'd play for free.

If we had to salvage any wreckage from NYC, lets get Brook Lopez - Stretch 5 extraordinaire. Maybe his natural height ability can get us more rebounds than we currently get as well.

I'd take a flyer on Melo. He's certainly a upgrade over Anderson. The Knicks sucked before he got there & will suck after. Bring him here and he'll be the deadliest threat as a 2nd option behind our superstar quitter.

Carmelo is only a name/brand now asking for max money, not a big impact player anymore. If you don't expect him to be anything more than a rich man's Ryan Anderson, then it might work. But that's just an additional superstar ego to cater to. We need more 'we' and less 'me' on this team.

And you think we're melting down now? Melo would be useless, like a screen door on a submarine.

Rockets need someone to lead Harden. And Melo ain't it.

You can find that in a coach or role player(Battier, Bev, or very vocal guys like Kenny Smith).

Man. Too many of you guys are acting like Carmelo is some bench scrub. He's one of those guys that you can build a competitive team around with him as #1 option(Nuggets), but most likely he will be an amazing #2, #3 option. Melo caught all the hate that the Knicks as an organization should have caught.

I do suppose he isn't really a great fit because he is more like T-Mac in that he plays at his own pace instead of pushing it and running hard to get to his spots for Harden to find him, though at the same time how hard does Ryno run compared to if we used Melo as a stretch 4 with Ariza at 3? Most of the time Ryno just stands 4 feet behind the 3 pt line and barely moves.

Man...who cares...were going to hype ourselves up for any big name and the biggest splash will be an overpaid Gallinari who will miss 30+ games a year. I bet even Ryno and Gordon go back to their fragile ways next year. I think we drop to last in the division. Harden preparing for an exit to LA. 2017-2018 will be James Harden's last season as a Rocket and it will be a disaster. Calling it. Bookmark if you need to.

I love Melo, but no way I see this happening. In his ESPN article MDA pretty much confirmed Carmelo made it a "him or me" situation and New York, and D'Antoni took the high road and walked away. But...

Imaging two of the best offensive players off all time under one of the best offensive coaches of all time is fun to think about. D'Antoni didn't mesh with ISO Melo, but if Carmelo bought into our system he could dominate alongside Harden. Think about how well he plays in the Olympics when he has someone else to create space and dish. I don't think it would happen, but that would be one of the most interesting teams of the last decade IMO.
