One correction... according to the Rockets Hakeem is going to miss 3 to 6 months.... Not good news mind you but better than 6 to 8. Doubt it's in Houston anyhow. This just opens a huge can of worms. Get healthy Dream. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
If indeed this does finish Hakeem's time with the Rockets, it is at least fitting that Hakeem's last full game was a 27 point/13 point performance. You hate to think of this as the end, but with the upcoming Webber chase, you have to start to believe it might be. If these were his final games, at least he went out playing his best ball in years. ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." "We want a higher seed. There's no doubt. I hope he is able to play again- anywhere, just as long as he is able to go out on his own terms. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
At the news conference, the trainer Keith Jones said that playing would be too risky because they're going to be putting him on a blood thinner. If he was to get struck or fall, this could create more serious problems. It looks like we more than likely have seen Hakeem play his last game, as a Rocket anyway. ------------------
Am I the only one who actually screamed when I heard the news?????? This is absolutely devastating. The playoffs are a long shot at best now. Do you realize we have no center now??? (I don't count Cato, 'cause it's just a matter of time before he sprains his little toe...). We can get away with that for maybe a couple of games against a few teams, but as soon as we run into a team with a dominating C... NOW I wish Collier was healthy. Fu*k. ------------------
I dont know what to say...what a shock. I should have really expected something considering the amount and severity of the injuries he has suffered since 95. After it went from 2 games to 3 or 4...we should have all known something like this was on the horizon. Too bad. Get well soon Dream...and please dont go to another team. ------------------

maybe this is juss a way to ensure he is remembered as a rocket, and only a rocket. too many memories..... ------------------ Lookin at a 75 year old man in a thong: NASTY Lookin at Shaq hit free throws: "O SH**!"

Just like that post represents a severe shortcoming in our educational system. ------------------ "One ring to rule them all, One ring to find them; One ring to bring them all and on the court unite them. In the land of Houston where the Rockets lie."
After a frickin HOUR?! ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
There is no "I" in "team". Just because Dream is gone, you don't abandon the rest of the team. Dream's loss is huge but nobody in their right mind, including Dream, would ask the fans to forget about what the rest of the team might still accomplish. As for Dream, I can only hope and pray this is not the last we have seen of him in a Rockets uniform. I want him back as I'm sure most of you do but he would have to take a pay cut. Still, the "team" must go on and I will be rooting for them every step of the rest of the way. The playoffs would be good for the Dreamless Rockets to gain experience and confidence. Surf ------------------
I would rather have Hakeem back next year than Webber. This team has been one of the best since the All-Star break. With this team intact next year with one more year under Steve's belt we could be a real threat even without Webber. Ideally I would like to get Webber and Dream, I just wish we could get rid of Cato's freakin contract then that would be possible. I am sick of these sad endings on Rocket carreers. Bring Hakeem back and lets do it right. I know Les is the biggest Hakeem fan, I hope we can find someway to bring him back. I am a big Rocket fan but I think I am a bigger Hakeem fan. In an age of having players playing a couple years on one team and then moving on to the next you can't help but feel the utmost devotion to an ICON that spent 16 years with us. I am devoted to Hakeem, I am not devoted to the rest of these athletes that flee to wherever they can get the most money. ------------------
I agree with you Surf, but it still seems awfully soon to start talking about the playoffs. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
BTW, Carol Dawson, came out publicly stating that the Rocket's would leave the door open for his return. Just a thought, but I think this allows Olajuwon more incentive to come back next year, at a much more appropriate salary. Just my thoughts. ------------------ "I never did like that "Dr. Stupid""-Monty Burns
What are we supposed to do? Sit here and cry? What will that accomplish? No point in crying over something you can't change. For that matter (and vastly more important), what would you do if you were a Rocket? They've got a game in a few minutes, and they MUST win it to keep any playoff hopes alive. Mourn later. ------------------
