You know, that clip gets funnier every time I see it. I just watched it three times in a row. I love Yao, but there was NO ONE between him and the basket! Neither defender would have contested a dunk. It's a bizarre play.

He was falling backward when he threw up that shot.

That was an alley-hoop pass, but Yao didn't complete it. Gooden bumped him after he caught it -- that's why he was falling to the floor.

Alley oops to Yao should be outlawed. They're gonna get the poor guy killed. It takes Yao some time to react to the ball. Leave the alley-oop'in to the master : Kelvin Cato.

...I can't stop laughing as I typed that last sentence.

Agreed. That was a bad pass. Alley oops in such a short distance with no arch. Yao was caught off guard (and balance with the help of Gooden.) That's why he fell. It was not an intended fade away at all.

    :D

Hmmm . . . okay, I'll own up to being wrong. Still, you have to admit, it's a funny clip.

If you'd seen that play from the under basket angle, you'd be wondering why there wasn't a foul called. Yao was practically knocked over after he got the ball. The refs didn't call squat in that game.
