This is hysterical. Capela looks like he's going to become a nice rim protector, but he basically gets all his points from putbacks and whatever Harden creates for him, but let's trade said creator. Lol!

Capela hasn't done enough to get paid. He is a roll player, not a potential star.

I'd trade Capela right now for Gorgui Dieng. Capela is not untouchable. I wish nba league pass was free so you guys that wear these red colored glasses could visually see the talent pool that's out there. Clint Capela wouldn't start for any other team in the league

In the D'Antoni/Morey press conference this afternoon, Morey was trying his best to compliment Capela, saying he's close to being an all-star. I'm sure he knows more than anyone that he's nowhere close to that. It's not hard to guarantee actually that he'll never be an all-star. He has zero shooting range outside of 5 feet and can still get outworked by talented bigs like Aldridge.

I'm still on board the DeMarcus Cousins train. His perceived value is low and he's going to be in the last year of his deal, so New Orleans would be smart to get whatever they can from him since its highly unlikely he re-signs there.

Really hoping Morey sells high on Capela.

i think darey morey, along with the rest of the NBA Gm's, players, coaches, ppl like me who have actually played a full-court pickup basketball game, can see with their very own eyes, that he already is one. Any center, skinny or not, who can rebound, block shots, defend LA, Gasol, and even a 2 or 3, and even sometimes a pointguard, has the fastest defensive rotations you can have, and can run down the damn floor like a 3, with quite possibly the quickest roll combined with a leaping ability to get above the rim, is an all star. He is only 22 years old? You can teach someone who to shoot a fifteen footer. You can't teach the other stuff. Even dream couldn't roll that fast.

and let me tell you...he is already the rockets best player. He can make any combo guard look like an all-star.

Um, a broke back DMo with and out of style game (and only above average at that style) got an 4/37 from the nets. Clint is going to get PAID.

You guys are slow.... I've mentioned this before. Leslie Alexander has team shut it down for the season. They get some off the books bonuses to comply. Man doesn't want to watch basketball anymore and has the authority to make sure all Rockets fan don't neither. Enough said. The game was intentionally fixed by your Rockets players. Maybe next year, Nene or whatever big doesn't get injured and Alexander has better spirits to compete. Who knows.. Cheers motha****az.

Capela is the perfect center on this team, since all his usage is extremely efficient and he does a lot of things very well. A nice complement to the 3 point barrage, similar to a Ben Wallace type for the early 2000's Pistons. You absolutely can not rebuild around him though, since he is a giant beneficiary of playing alongside Harden.

Capela has so much more offensive game than people give him credit for

He is a very skilled big man in terms ball skills. They will obviously develop but his skills are very good now

You can't average twelve at his age just cause of your of pg

    Mainly for a center

that is one way to look at it. another way to look at it is that they benefit each other. Because of his rolling abililty, harden's man has to respect him on the switch. any pick and roll guard would love to play with capela.

Andre Drummond got paid. Jerome James got paid. Larry Sanders got paid. And I could name a dozen others.

Capela's greatest value to us is as a trade piece. He has more value there then on the court.

The only thing that will change this is if we get acquire a 5 that can hold the middle defensively and spread the court offensively with his spot-up game while Capela runs pick-and-roll. And I don't know who that would be.

Perhaps we could trade Anderson for Lopez. Then Capela could possibly become something more than just another big since he's much better defensively defending 4's than 5's.

There's no reason to give Capela an extension unless we can extend him below market. I'd be shocked if we extended him at $100 million and it would tell me that this organization is circling the drain by yielding to Harden's whims.

LMAO! Capela is the best Rockets player? For most of the season, he wasn't even the best C on the roster. Literally the only compliments you could give him were on the defensive side, and you expect him to be an all-star despite having zero strengths on the offensive side of the ball?

He went 3-11 FG in the elimination game. How does a C go 3-11 when all his shots are 5 feet from the basket? Someone please GIF that airball hookshot he tried. His ceiling is basically a less stronger and athletic version of Dwight at his peak.

Morey can continue to find Capellas in the draft or free agency easily. There's no need to invest any sort of long term deal on him. Capela was created in Morey's lab to be traded as a high value asset, in hopes to get a star.

Extend him. He is a rapidly improving player at a very young age who is already right now capable of being the 4th or 5th best player on a championship caliber team. It is guaranteed he will give you at the pessimistic least 5 more years of what he gave us this season. That's already worth $10m+ per season in market value.

I can see clear as day now that he could very well become an elite modern defender and an efficient offensive man - not in the way that old minded people still fantasize about, but I'm talking about being highly skilled at managing smaller players, moving quick on help, and disrupting shots near the rim. He has not been good at helping most of this regular season, but there was a flash of improvement against a terror of an opponent. He will do it, especially after his most experience-filled season. Has been great for him.

His history suggests that he will work hard to improve in the off-season, he will be responsive to guidance, he fits well with our indispensable franchise player, and within the offensive system we will be running.

Super lucky to have this guy. He won't let us down.

so you're saying an old player that plays 15 minutes a night against the second unit, is better than capela? than why did he only get a minimum contract? he's a steal for that price, you are right. this not half court basketball....

Did you see how much the Rockets gave the role player Ryan Anderson?
You do know this kid averaged a double double and 2.6 blocks against one of the best front lines in basketball. For me he was one of the bright spots in this season and he's improved every year. He's a keeper in my book and he deserves to get paid. Would love to see him paired with a Paul Milsap type of 4 but we can all dream.

    A few things:

    1) Capela is a damn good player and isn't even 23 years old yet. Look at how much he's improved since his rookie season. Imagine how much better he'll be when he's 25.

    2) Capela is gonna get paid. If Timofey Mozgov got 4 years, 64 mil, imagine what Capela will command in free agency.

    3) The Rockets would be wise to not resign Capela til 2018 when he's a restricted free agent. They may wind up paying more, but it's better for cap purposes to hold off.
