6! I konw it is shocking. Points Allowed: 1st FG %: 2nd Opponent FG%: 1st 3pt %: 2nd Opponent Rebounds: 2nd Opponent Assists: 2nd TO: Dead last! http://www.nba.com/statistics/sortable_team_statistics/00002.html
I think we're pretty horrible in team assists too. Just guessing though. I think that once the players get more used to the system, and get to the point where they don't have to thnk before executing, the TO's will go down. Right now, the players are still getting a feel for it, but it's working out very well. We're going to Yao, and if Yao is not open, our backcourt is flaming the other team from everywhere.
IIRC we are currently at the 22nd in terms of team assists. The good news is, opponents assists trailed us by about one.
Another nice stat: I pulled the points for/against into Excel and calculated the difference. Seattle is #1 winning their games by an avg of 15.3 ppg. We are 2nd winning by 12.4!!! Then it drops to Detroit by 7. Lakers are winning by an avg. of 4.2ppg. Certainly this early in the season these can be skewed by the level of the opponents played. So let's hope JVG's lessons keep having an effect on these guys and these stats still look as good once we've swung through the whole league!!! Also nice to see the PF bench come in and help out since Mo is not available.
Rich, that differential is what I call the team's margin for error. It is not going to stay that large, but when it normalizes I expect it to be one of the best in the league.
