Maybe it was a mistake to have cared about it in the first place . The relevance of the regular season is a mirage . This goes for every team . Team Records , personal stats , any and all accomplishments and accolades all ring hollow. The pride derived from contributing to wins and placing your team at a certain rank is a false pride . How can it matter? The games don't . I shouldn't say the games don't matter , rather the game played during the regular season is not the same game . It's not basketball . The games in the playoffs , THAT is basketball . In the playoffs you fight , you scratch , you claw. Making a shot is difficult . You play with poise and a sharp focus as a team or you get sent home . The rockets had some games in the playoffs where they played basketball. Even if we did not win those games I was proud to watch the team play the way it did . Some games however, we tried to play that **** we played during the regular season, a game of expected values and probabilities. We even won playing like that sometimes . But basketball is a great game because there is no dominant strategy , teams have strengths and weaknesses and if you can keep focused and keep poised you can win in spite of the odds. Popovic is a great coach because his teams play basketball the right way almost all the time . Tonight we didn't rise to the challenge. We lost our composure and focus I don't care about the regular season anymore. The test of a team , the test of a man comes in the playoffs. We made it to the semi-finals and lost to a great team , our efforts are worth something . But , the Spurs didn't just beat us ; we gave them a couple of shots and then they turned around and kicked us off a cliff . In the end , we didn't have enough to even play the same game as them tonight . Whether or not you believe this team can grow enough to win it all is up to you . I just know that to do anything of note we will have to learn from that ass kicking and attain the level of focus, poise , and togetherness the Spurs had tonight. The regular season is just practice
even the best player (lebron) and the best coach (pop) don't care about the regular season. they know its all about the playoffs lol thats why I only spend my time on the rockets. not watching other teams play, for what
Everyone says this and then the draft, summer league, free agency comes and we get excited all over again.
The regular season does matter because you get to see the team and players develop together. The post season matters because you get to see your MVP candidate throw it all away in the blink of an eye.
This one will be tough to get over. Our supposed superstar and leader exposed himself as a quitter. That rep will follow him until he ever wins a championship. James FRAUDen.
