Its been a great year. Credit is due where deserved. 3rd overall in the league, especially in the more difficult western conference. This wasn't a fluke. However if anyone believes MDA's small ball is going to win it all, they are fools. If anyone thinks Harden will win it all being the leader, they are fools. Harden is a fantastic player, but he is mentally too weak to carry a team. You can hate Westbrook, but he doesnt quit until the game is over. Harden is not an MVP candidate nor will he ever. Harden has a bad case of bi-polar ball. That said, the biggest issue is the watered down talent pool. When a team like this carries the 3rd overall record in the league, then Houston, we have a problem. Players have no passion. Coaches suck. Top talent piling up on one or two teams. This isn't competitive sports. This is just a job for them to show up and to collect a paycheck.
Felt the exact same way when they were blown out by Celtics on their 22 game win streak. It was ****ing miserable to watch but damn did I stand and clap when it was over. They had a terrible ending to a great season but damn was it fun to watch after last years debacle. Proud that they didn't cower away when it was over and had the decency to congratulate the Spurs. Now lets see what Morey can do to fix our problems for next year.
I'm sorry this is not the same as the 22 game winning streak. That team gave 100% effort night in and night despite being out talented. They were never out hustled. The Spurs were short Kawhi and Tony while we were mainly at full strength sans Nene.
This is what people don't realize. We overachieved. Now people are calling for Harden to be traded, when we shouldn't have even been in the playoffs in the first place, as projected by everyone. Apparently, when people taste just a little bit of success, they go batshit crazy. Who knew?
This is horrible thinking. Only the last game itself was bad, and it probably had something to do with Harden guarding 7 footers for the past few games. We play a high variance style that is going to result in some really bad games. It just happened at the worst moment. Doesn't mean much going forward.
We got beat by a top 3 team in the NBA. We should be happy that we are 4th. It is something we can build on.
Good year, yes Harden still MVP, yes .....BUT how the hell do you not show up in an elimination game??? smh
Didn't know the board was full of Mets and Jets fans who keep their expectations so low that disappointment does not make its way in...
so how many games are we gonna give MDA next year over under mchales 11.....keep in mind he had a healthy Beverley
Objectively outside of this Game 6 loss it was an absolute great year for the Rockets franchise. Harden cannot do this all on his own from being a triple double player while having to defend Aldridge and Gasol down in the post and Morey needs to acquire more veteran big man depth. Ariza may be the one that finally goes as part of a deal to help get the 2nd big piece who knows. Great year and I'm sure this loss will haunt Harden into next season but that's all part of growing.
More to do, improvements to make for everyone. Can't sit on our laurels. But after the Dwightmare the trials of this season were absolutely nothing in comparison. I had fun this year. Well done Daryl and MDA!
I wish all the fans didn't leave and stayed till the end. Yes it was a blowout, but the rockets over achieved this year.
I echo a lot of sentiments here, but this thread title is not the point that so many people are upset. When you play, you play to win and the Rockets just rolled over, ON THEIR OWN HOME FLOOR. Believe me, any other superstar would not have shown up like this, heck CP3 never went to a conference final but he always plays. Yes, the Rockets overachieved a lot this season, but if this is going to be the attitude moving forward, it will not matter who we get or what we do, we will not win anything.
He didn't bench Harden for a crucial game 6 where no heart was displayed, so he'll probably get at least 12 games. This of course depends on how many hours James spends in the strip club over the summer.
This BS excuse of "Harden was beat down because he had to guard Aldridge and Gasol" needs to stop. He sucked, and he completely disappeared. And if he honestly wants to try to pretend that is why he played the way he did tonight, then it is time for a new superstar
Players out of energy all night. Our strength and condition team sucks. It's not about we need another big stretch 4 or 5. Got to hire some real strength and condition trainer first.
People forgot how last year sucked much worse. First Round Exit is worse than 2nd Round Exit. EVERY TIME.
