i was thinking how do you think is better coach jeff van gundy or rudy t

in my opinion i think that rudy t did a great job for us last seson
and jeff is taking and putting some little of his stuff. last years we are one good defensive team we are just a some steps better this year. remember we lost last year by a half game to be on the playoff

i think that jeff did a great work gettin the right role players that we need and put some focus in the big D and a big change in our offense system , but some of the movements are from rudy t to .

i just wonder my self that if
    with

rudy t we are a better team or with jeff v

and with that team what system we are better

Impossible to fairly judge until we have completed a full season under JVG.

I voted even, simply because, there's no way to tell yet, if ever. Maybe Jeff will get his point across better than Rudy could. Maybe Jeff will demand more respect than Rudy. Does that make him a better coach? It depends on who he's coaching.
Certain players might need to be on a leash moreso than others. Jeff is the man in that case.
What I find interesting is the fact that Jeff sent letters to the team members demanding that they show up to camp in shape. Jeff has a reputation of demanding effort and results.... See the results of that? ;)

    *Mo is in better shape.
    *Moochie is in better shape.
    *Moochie cut his hair.....wonder why?
*Yao is in better shape (although I think he'd improve anyway simply because he has the desire to improve on his own)
*Piatkowski (sp) was worried, and lost about 12 pounds
*Boki was told he'd sit the bench if he didn't shoot the ball in a preseason game
*Steve was told he'd be taken out of the Nets game if he didn't quite acting like a fool.......and Steve then turned his game around and helped us win
*Cato is playing great for his role
*Yao is getting better conditioning via more playing time, even if his tongue is dragging the ground..... :p
*Mobley is playing better team ball, and taking better shots.

    No excuses! :D

Technically (x's and o's, offense and defense philosophy) and professionally (mentorship and preparedness), JVG is a better coach. I'll ways believe that.

But I have to agree with codell, "Greatness" or "Legacy" will remain with Rudy. JVG HAS to win at least two championship to create his own "legacy."

That's the last mesure of any coach. He still has work to do. It's his job to put the best team on the court and put the team in the best position to win.

And I prefer JVG methods over Rudy's. So far, I like what JVG is doing.

I voted for JVG, that doesn't mean the Rudy was a bad coach he just needed the right players to coach. what i mean by right is, players like Hakeem, Ottis, etc...

Apples and oranges. Rudy was a great motivator. JVG is a great teacher. It's really not about who is better, but who is better for this team.

Rudy was the perfect coach for the championship teams. They were full of experienced and hungry veterans. I don't think JVG (or anyone for that matter) could have done more with that team than Rudy did.

JVG is the perfect coach for this young inexperienced but talented team. Rudy tried in vain to get this team to the playoffs for four years. Now let's see if JVG can do it.

One needs to think back when Rudy was Running and Coaching the Rockets, avoid the pitfall of the last four years, then you can judge the real
Rudy T. JVG is going to be a great Coach for the Rockets but only after FOUR Games, one can't even make a guess. Rudy T ,I know about and at this point in Rockets History Rudy T has my vote.

This team never played anything close to the kind of defense they are playing now under Rudy T. Therefore, I vote for Van Gundy.

    :(

Rudy T won because of Olajuwon, Clyde & Barkley, as soon as the big three was gone so was Rudy. The taking of Horry and Cassel in the draft was pure luck, Rudy's draft picks through out the last three or four years have stunk. Rudy gets Francis because of default, and Mobley did little in college and Rudy strikes gold again with luck. I think with JVG in charge this year we will have better picks that will help this team now. JVG will make you forget about Rudy and his no idea of X and O's.

    Sorry, but that's the truth.

Rudy's a nice guy and not an incompetent coach, but it was Hakeem...

This is so funny to me
JVG has yet to prove anything to me

His great run from 8th to a finals
had Ewing Houston and Spreewell and Larry Johnson [still useful] on it
If Rudy benefitted form Hakeem etc. . .

The JVG benefitted from those players

but hey . . he just the flavor of the month

I guess this is why we get label bandwagon *ss fans
    all the time

    RUDY!
