I think about buying some more and more everyday Actually .. . I am interesting in the whole shabang. . . gunsmithing - making my own amo Have not been motivated enough yet .. . but getting there Rocket River
@Rocket River, just so long as you understand Texas' open carry laws don't apply the same way to black people. Stay safe.
It applies just the same and I don't think he's the type to pick a fight with a cop so he should be good.
That said, I've only had one instance in my life where I would have needed a gun in public in America. As such I've never seen a reason to carry be is concealed or open carry. Even in that once instance where a gun would have come in handy, I managed to get by without one so I see no reason to take on the burden and inherent danger of carrying in public.
More minorities should be involved in gun ownership. It is empowering. Huey Newton was correct on that point. Take responsibility for what the government will not.
Expressly why I didn't complete my CC license in Texas--went through the class and it totally talked me out of taking on the liability. The class Taught me that there are exceedingly few instances when you should draw down and regardless of how "right" you are you will have an uphill battle in civil court not to mention just getting your record expunged from the original charges. And as Bobby said, I've been fine without one and I can legally carry in my vehicle without the scrutiny and liability if I feel the need.
None, as I didn't particularly enjoy the one time I went to a range and I don't fear people breaking into my house.
Yep, drive in my hybrid. I now leave my system installs to internet dorks like you that sideline as Best Buy installers.
I think gun ownership should be handled similar to car ownership. You can have as many as you want as long as you can pass the minimum standard testings and get licensed as well as not be inebriated when using one.
I'd have to get the insurance sheet to tell you exactly. Enough to do what I want, more than I need. Most are antique/sentimental things that are just fun to look at and think about and would never be fired.
I don't either, but I do apparently live in a slightly different world than you do. eta: all for hunting/ranch stuff, exactly zero of my firearms are for self defense
.38 rat shot makes a rattler dance, damn sure the only thing I carry for protection i carry besides a browning O/U on our place in Coleman. It's hard to come by these days in Texas, my brother gets us a box or two whenever he drives down from CO for the annual family dove hunt.
I keep a long-barrel 12-gauge pump with no choke, loaded with 00, in the truck/mule. Never had to use it on a snake (rocks & shovels work just fine for me, it's the Hill Country so there's always a rock handy) but I bet it would do the job. It will knock a pig on its ass at 40 yards though.
That's what I use the .22 revolvers for but with rat shot occasionally being hard to come by I just use the 20 gauge when snakes are an issue.
