Sure, the loss to Phoenix the other nite sucked, but his Rockets report on TSN site gave out the following grades: Francis F Mobley F Anderson F Taylor F Cato F- Bench F Rudy T F I gotta say that I usually like what Murph says in the Chronicle, but damn...all those F's, a wee bit harsh. Guess someone was venting a little bit!?! ------------------
he's pretty objective during the wins, but goes off after one loss it seems (I saw a super negative article, I guess after the Portland game too). ------------------ "We've never been very comfortable with praising ourselves, but we're so proud of our new album, The Great Eastern, that we've got no problem telling people it's an absolutely fantastic record." EMMA POLLOCK of the delgados.
He writes about the Rockets for almost all of the major publications, but seems to use TSN as his venting place after tough losses like the Suns game. ------------------
Suck it up guys, he was right on that one. The Rockets *FAILED* in their effort to gain some very important ground against the Suns. If you don't win in this league, then you've *Failed*. If you have to win a game and you lose it, you've *Failed*. If you're #9 in the West, and you're playing #8, and you lose, then you've *Failed*. When you *Fail* in the West, no matter what grade you "should have gotten", you stay where you are - a loser. Just as in school when you *Fail*, you're kept back a grade, and do not advance. Wrong or right, that's the way it is. I read Murphy's TSN article, and I thought it was almost dead-on. They failed the test, so he gave everyone an "F". It IS a team sport... No luck involved, I think the Rox took that grade to heart against Indiana... They definitely didn't like the "F". ------------------
WHAT?!?! Langhi's on the bench, he gave Langhi an F!??! ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
What's interesting is that Murphy doesn't write about the Rockets anymore... He's the NCAA basketball beat writer... But Murph is right, he's bringing home the point that no one succeeded in the loss to Pho... I hope he did that to light a fire up in the Rockets collective asses... I hate seeing threads like this that b**** and moan about Blinebury, Murphy, or any media outlet... We can't b**** and moan about respect when we get our asses handed to us by our own conference... I'm not saying that we can't do it, because I feel we can... I'm just saying that Rockets fans need to realize respect is earned, not given, especially with a young team... ------------------ Check out my homepage! Murphy was right on, I think that Phoenix lost is going to come back and hurt the team in the end. I feel that was a game the Rockets had to win to give themselves a legit shot at making the playoffs. Even after the great win last night, it's still going to be tough. ------------------
Murphy was spot on in his analysis of the Rox, he usually is, and thats why I enjoy reading his reports. However, my point is that his grading is a bit off. Yes, you can make the argument that its all or nothing, win or fail. Why then even give out any grades then? I was not bashing Murphy/Blinebury/media regarding Houston. Just pointing out that to me an F is not only losing, but not trying (ie, the blowout loss at home to the Clips earlier this year.)So, basically, I'm disagreeing with the grades, not the analysis. This is basically a debate over the old saying "Its not how you play the game, but whether you win or lose", which I disagree with. Its not an argument over treatment of the rox by the media. ------------------
