Looks like an even more legit q now Frankly the biggest question is not when but how much damage he will do and how irreparable it will be.
Yes vote--the house is so gerrymandered that it's unlikely Democrats take it back. Maybe I'm wrong, but the GOP isn't gonna lift a finger
I hope not but we'll see. I personally don't know anyone that is happy with his Presidency thus far. These are mostly Bush Jr. and Romney voters too.
It doesn't matter who is happy and who isn't Trump is only impeached if there is clear evidence he committed crimes. Everything really depends on the current FBI investigation.
There's a school of thought that says GOP - after a midterm loss, and not because they want to do the right thing, of course- realizes they're better off with Pence for the rest of the term and enough cross the line. Obviously there are grounds there.
Impeachment is only one thing. He could also resign, be effectively removed for reason of mental infirmity, I think; also he's old, obese, and very stressed.
If Trump does not get the boot, it will not be due to lack of effort. Trump has never addressed his ongoing conflict of interests. My money is on Trump resigning. Being President is a hard job, that Trump appears to not be getting any pleasure from. Trump liked campaigning and he has already went back to campaigning, to avoid the job.
I believe Trump will finish one term and not run for re-election. Been saying this since election day. I also can't imagine him stepping down early under any circumstances other than health issues. Don't expect Republicans to ever turn against Trump because they are afraid him. For good reason. The real question is when will Trump be finished? 2018 wouldn't surprise me. Whether before 2020 or not, I think we all know it won't end well. These 4 years will be remembered as a regrettable chapter in American history.
Why? The house crazies basically told him to go **** himself on health care and then extracted concessions. He doesn't have a natural constituency to punish them or anybody else really. He stands for himself only and can only bring along the friends he can buy. Who knows when he goes broke.
Trump has a core group of angry voters who would love him if he killed somebody. Those are voters Republicans won't alienate. GOP leaders will gut it out for 4 years because they know if Trump goes down in flames, he will take the party with him. I've been thinking about the end game since the election. The best case for Republicans is one full term and no re-election campaign. They will do all possible to make both happen. The Russia thing blowing up could change that so they will enable whatever cover up is necessary. Graham and McCain are outliers.
A lot of wishful thinking and ridiculous statements in this thread. Some of them speak with a certainty reminiscent of those in the election thread where Trump's demise was wrongly forecast over and over again. To date there is not one shred of evidence that Trump has done anything even remotely impeachable. Trump will be president until January 2025.
He still has a strong base just waiting to be tapped. Those problems of theirs won't be solved aytime soon. 4 years might be a conservative window. Which is probably why the holy scions of Silly Valley want to leave this dirtpile as soon as possible.
The thing about strongmen and dictators and wannabes like Trump is that once they start to topple it happens incredibly fast. Could the Republicans do more horrible damage with President Pence for the next 18 months? They could, he's less of a liability. Midterms are going to lose seats regardless. . The only things stopping them are their own cobsiderable stupidity and cowardice.
