So instead of finishing his book he will waste even more time with spinoffs? I think this will end up like Dune and will have to read the end written by someone else based on some notes here and there.

Anyway I would like to see either the destruction of Valyria or the Rhoynish Wars and how Nymeria led them to the Westeros.

I think the TV show is just more fun for him. I'm not sure how likely a spinoff would take place in the past. There is a lot of stuff there that you might want explored but you will probably have some key actors that would stay on the franchise that you could use as a base in a new show. I'm also just not crazy about prequels no matter how far back they go. Something about how you still know where things end up isn't satisfying.

Have not. Always got a to much fantasy vibe to it. Just kind of weird sic-fi.
But if its highly recommend I will watch it.

It's a sci fi western. Kind of reminds you of red dead redemption. The cast is amazing as well.

I think it's as good as Game of Thrones. You should at least watch the first episode. If it's not your cup of tea, then at least it's not much of a loss.

Just call in Brandon Sanderson to finish the books with his notes now...no reason to wait until he dies like Robert Jordan.

I agree that the writing isn't really the same quality as before, but I've committed so much time to these stories and characters, I want to see how it plays out in the end.

I think the dialogue sometimes is too much but the action keeps me really intrigued. I love how they handled the Battle of the Bastards. The CGI wasn't a distraction, the grittiness and fighting felt like what I think a battle in real life would be like, where nothing about it was pretty or perfect.

Martin will pass the writing on to another writer once he is dead IMO.

Now he's hanging out with Kobe. Hopefully Kobe will pass on to him some of his focus, so he can finish what he has started.

Yes, some of the writing has dropped off. They ruined the Dorne storyline in Season 5 by treating it like the b*stard (Season Five "Sand", if you will) at the family reunion. That kidnapping attempt / fight scene was beyond ludicrous. Just awful. The dialogue falters here and there, too. You get Tyrion saying to his fellow characters, "Here in Meereen," and you get Prince Doran before his untimely demise, "Here in Dorne," which is a little inept. We've been watching: you don't need to tell us you're not in Texas. Overall, though, they've hit more than they whiffed, at least with last season. The last two episodes were stunning(ly good).

As far as spinoffs, they'd have to be really good for an audience to show up. Most of the time we just sort of drift off a bit.

In case you haven't heard, HBO has cancelled the GoT prequel starring Naomi Watts. Apparently, the pilot did not go down well. Even after a chance to clean up the pilot, the second airing also did not go down well. So, cancelled.

Thats a shame. HBO has done everything in its power to ruin the legacy of this show and has succeeded.

can we go back and fix the last season of GOT?

I loved the series but giving the keys to the kingdom to the 3 eyed raven is the stupidest ending of all time.

I don't see the point until GRRM or his designate (probably Joe Abercrombie) finish the books. It's painfully obvious that the writing for the show relied heavily on the books for details. After the show passed the books, it was hot garbage.

Precedent is set with the Snyder Cut.

Not sure. Think that sometimes the writer can go stale too and not know where he wants to go. So it's good to get some fresh blood. Other times the writer is the key since he knows the bigger picture of where it's supposed to go. At this point it seems better to have him involved. But they have a such a large world and they can basically follow soap plot lines so it shouldn't be hard to have a great series.

Do you think that happens? I could see it and what better excuse to try and also all the money it would rake in.
