Ding, ding ding! http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/russell-wilson-1.html @Hey Now! you know comparing college stats like this is kind of useless. To me he does kind of remind me of Russell... but I'm no expert. I'd be curious from people who spent a lot more time analyzing what the true comparisons may be.
I know; but I get such a Russell Wilson vibe from him... low key guy with college production who seems to just light up every room. I continue to maintain: this makes the Texans 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times more interesting.
He cannot throw the ball on the run as well as Wilson...... then again other than Rodgers and Young, who has been able to? The Texans are certainly more interesting now than they ever have been and there is optimism for the first time in a long time.
True... it "feels" Russell Wilson'y to me. But that's the same as saying Sam Dekker feels Chandler Parsons'y to me. Truth is I didn't see either play enough or consistently enough in college to have any clue. And unfortunately the analysis for him as all over the board. Great instinctive feel in the pocket that can make multiple reads ... vs ... struggles to move on to second or third reads. Can make all the NFL throws .... vs .... weak arm. It's kind of infuriating really how difficult it is to figure out a new NFL QBs potential. Not withstanding a decent brief run by Schaub, who maximized what he had and put up some stats better than what the stats said he could be (eg. a couple of great statistical years, but this was always going to be a guy that struggled in the playoffs to lead the team deep)... it's been what, 25 years since Warren Moon. 25 years of crappy QB play, save maybe 2 or 3 years of a top half of the league guy. I don't just "feel" the Russell Wilson comp... I really NEED it to be accurate!
I'm going with a mixture of McNabb and Dak. Been awhile since I've been pumped for a Texans season. Will be one exciting season.
True. I say he compares to Geno Smith. About the same height and weight. Geno probably threw better. Took some snaps from center. Looks like he has a much stiffer back. Watson runs better. Prob better talent around him....M Williams/Gallman/Leggett (drafted).... Renfroe...Cain (Matt Miller mock draft for 2018 already out. Cain goes in first round). Doubt he is a douchebag to teammates like Geno.
Russell Wilson has a very underrated arm This is a nice post though I don't know about Watson's arm strength cause I have a hard time evaluating it from eye testing but if it's average then Wilson has more tools
