The fact that some fell for this nonsense is worrisome enough.

Pretty much the ADL ran away with this garbage. The entire point is this sort of thing exposes how ridiculous things have become in our politically charged world.

Never heard of this thing, no one is losing their minds over the OK sign. False news, false outrage, true snow flake.

Typical outrage over made up outrage.

Nobody gives a crap if someone gives an "A-Okay" sign. I guess Soledad Obrien represents a majority of the population of the United States or something. I had never even heard of this until seeing this thread.

4Chan might be looking for outrage symbols to spread and create falsifications but it takes context in order to get something like this to pick up steam.

*Take the Pepe the frog meme. Pepe in of itself was innocuous I believe. Until we saw it for over a year leading up the election as the main avatar for the Trump twitter bot hype crew that trolled the internet with racist follow ups to Trumps statements. In the Russian hack report, I believe it mentioned the Pepe avatar being the associated with Russian bots. Clint Watts mentioned the connection to the Pepe accounts that got merged after the election.

That's why I asked Dach a few times the story behind his use of Pepe for his avatar. Was just wondering why he'd want to present that image in the context of our current political climate. He explained it was Rockets related and I said... okay cool. Just wondering.

Point being, liberals should cool it on the "A-Okay" nonsense until we see it actually being used in context of White Supremacy. Lets wait and see if David Duke and Richard Spencer are using it like the Vulcan hand gesture on Star Trek.

I don't see liberals except for Soledad Obrien freaking out about this yet so as of now this is typical outrage over the outrage nonsense, and everyone is freaking out over nothing. If someone shoots me an "A-Okay" today I'll make sure to not define them as a White Supremacist.

It's always been like this. The difference is that the internet along with social media allows every swinging dick and p***y to have their own mini bully pulpit which leads to everything being some sort of systemic ideology that is 'destroying this country'.

You have fools like this youtube channel guy who over-dramatize these notions to make the appearance that his cause is far more important than it actually is to create some sort of self-worth and monetize on it through subscriptions and 'thumbs ups'. Pretty pathetic.

Look. Iraq War 2 was based on a lie: WMD's. The lie fooled Colin Powell, fooled America, fooled the United Nations, fooled the world! And it led to massive massive war crimes committed by the USA. Yep, the USA might have the most massive war crimes in recent history! Not Russia, not China, not ISIS, not Al Qaeda: the USA.

And now the WMD lie is know, and still no one cares. That was over a decade ago, and hundreds of thousands of lives, and trillions of dollars.

The moral is: we Americans don't know **** about the truth, and we are ****ed.

LOL But it's true! If we're invading countries in total ignorance, and we are totally in the wrong, how can we hope to know the small stuff?

Imagine if a foreign country invaded the USA, hundreds of thousands of Americans were killed, and our leader ended up being hanged. We'd be almost as outraged as we were about Benghazi!

P.S. We actually DO have WMD's!

That's funny but not surprising that The Independent published that. They've been publishing some petty anti-American articles since Trump was elected.

Yeah 4chan is where all the dregs of human society come to congregate. No surprises there.

Eh, looks like fake outrage at fake outrage....

But seriously, symbols and signs can mean anything people want them to mean if people assign them meaning. This isn't new. This isn't special.

There is a history of signs that once meant one thing and now mean another, that's how language works. We assign meaning to these symbols, so if enough people started using 'Ok' signs while doing racist things then yes, it would then be associated with racism. This isn't some big mystery here, this is how language is created.
