It's possible to like more than one QB. Here's the thing with Mahomes that EVERYONE needs to remember... NOBODY thinks he can play this year; the Chiefs have Smith on a two-year deal so it's plausible they may think he needs two years. Sitting is conducive to learning, etc., but it doesn't prevent the clock on your rookie deal from starting. If he sits for two years, the Chiefs are essentially going to have two years of Mahomes before they have to make a decision on his fifth year and/or extend him. That's not insignificant and could be a recipe for disaster.
I'm not much of a college football fan so don't follow it closely but the more I learn about Watson the more I like the pick. I really hope Smith, O'Brien, and McNair were all on the same page with the pick.
I mean, it's not that crazy when you give up a 1st round pick. You can afford a lot of stuff people didn't think you could when you mortgage your house. I'm happy with the trade but you aren't going to feel this one until next offseason or during the season if the Texans are losing.
